Anyway, as it says in the thread title. New series starts tonight.

As brilliant as Janusk is, it will get a bit boring if he wins star baker again. Although to be fair he did win the technical tonight as well so I guess he must be in the running.

Surely Sandro deserves star baker this week? Carol or Dawn to go - either would deserve it, to be fair.

Halloween week??? Has Bake Off gone all Strictly on us?

I think right choices Sandro and Carol. Are there any specific things traditionally baked at Halloween (maybe not UK?) as I can’t think of any.

Irish barm brack is all I can think of.

Parkin and toffee apples for fireworks night which is close enough.

Sandro's globe showstopper was amazing. Am I right in thinking that he was a professional baker in the past so surely this gives him a big advantage for certain bakes ?

Really? I thought professional bakers were specifically excluded? They seem to make a big thing of it being home bakers only.

Yes! I checked - Paul is 56 and Dawn is 60! Rude man!

Paul was very rude about Dawn, but he is about so many of the over 50s. I wish someone would take him down a peg or two. Though, maybe they do but it gets edited out.

I wonder if the mirror glaze was edible would it have looked so nice? From previous attempts seen on various baking shows there always seems to be a huge amount of gelatine in them and it was style over substance.

The technical with no instructions really did show those who know baking. I was surprised Syabira managed to get anything out and didn't know about blind baking. But hers was still better than 'I bake this every week' Dawn. When will they learn not to say they are great at a bake. They always, or nearly always fail at them.

I shall jinx things but my final 3 predictions are Janusz, Maxy and Sandro. (Sorry to all three if this has sealed your early exit fates😬 )
