Anyone watching?

I never start TV threads, but honestly I'm getting so stressed about the pink and yellow scheme I need an outlet. And support. Tell me it'll be okay, and those two poor women will not have to avoid each other in the playground for the rest of their children's school life.

I'm not watching but is it Carol Smilie and LLB again?

BeforetheFlood · 10/08/2022 20:42

Not Carole, but LLB is front and centre, painting everything blue and orange. And there's a designer that I haven't seen before who is wearing a sort of weird sci-fi school uniform outfit which seems most unsuitable for decorating. She's the one in charge of the pink and yellow scheme, and turning the living room into a 'doll's house' themed horror show in this couple's lovely arts and crafts house.

Not watching but its online the background. I just looked up and said to dd those people are going to burn there houses down.

BeforetheFlood · 10/08/2022 20:47

Dear lord, it's like those Rightmove links people post on here to houses that were last decorated in 1973.

Kudos to that woman for not crying.

Which channel? I might need to watch later-sounds interesting. And i want to see if LLB still looks like he might be the lead singer of Foo Fighters. Grin

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/08/2022 20:50

Channel 4. Imho it's not as good now the designers aren't constrained by a miserly budget.

RooniIWazlib · 10/08/2022 20:50

Did you see the last series? The pair of designers stapled wigs to a wall one week and painted a big brown skid mark another week. I wonder why they never got asked back? 😂

MichaelAndEagle · 10/08/2022 20:51

I don't know what to say about the yellow room! It was beautifully designed and so well put together and thought out. But it was just too time capsule for me. Too themed.
I like maximalism and quirkiness but this was just too much.
Actually I liked the dining room end to be fair

Hepzibar · 10/08/2022 20:53

Don't think she likes it Lawrence

BeforetheFlood · 10/08/2022 20:54

I do have a reluctant, guilty love for LLB. But jeez, the man has a cruel sense of humour.

Oooooohhhhh!!! Brilliant!!!!

I remember one episode and they painted the walls with sand! Actual sand. I’d say it’s still there 20 years later. It was awful.

I can’t wait to watch this again!!!

jobbr · 10/08/2022 20:56

I know LLB. I have never met a man so in love with his wife. A really great person through and through, so I do like to support what he does.
however, hate changing rooms…!!!

Batinhernightdress · 10/08/2022 20:57

Why now? Changing rooms is a nights drawing in type of program

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/08/2022 21:01

Whinnie is classier then the blokes who buggered up several rooms last time around.

That's good to know. I think he seems like he's got a cracking, dry sense of humour and a ferocious intellect. He's a bloody talented artist. But all of that doesn't make him a good fit for designing interiors in the average suburban family home. Which I guess is why it makes good telly.

I know, right?! Next thing we know it'll be Bake Off time. How the year slips by.

I think both rooms were rather Ott. That pink carpet.
The cobalt was rather hard. I liked the orange but the rooms are somehow too designed.
The designer was a bit Barbarella for me.
Cant imagine how the rest of the houses would flow from those spaces.

I still remember the awful black white and red room from the original series last century!

Meredusoleil · 10/08/2022 21:28

I really liked the pastel colour scheme Whinnie chose, but my god that flowery wallpaper she designed was absolutely hideous!

Inversely, I really liked LLB's William Morris wallpaper and the flame pattern he designed himself. However, not both together. And definitely not with all the cobalt (which sounded like cobbled the way he said it) blue and orange colours everywhere. No wonder the poor woman was crying at the end 😢

LadyEloise1 · 11/08/2022 00:04

I just don't get it. If someone says they don't like orange why give them orange ?
I thought they were both ghastly.
Certain elements were good but the designers need go know when to stop.
As Coco Chanel said " Remove one thing before you leave the house."
Less is more.

I stopped watching the last series because it was like the designers were trying to outdo themselves with whacky ideas.

Yes I really felt the woman's pain when she saw the orange and even commented on it. Just 2 colours they said they didn't want, orange and brown. But LLB3 still HAS to use one of them regardless. It's like they really don't care what the owners actually want and ask for!

Ccoffee · 11/08/2022 07:12

I love LLB.

I really liked the pink and yellow rooms, I could live with those very happily. LLB's not so much, but I'm not a fan of 'big' patterns.

rwalker · 11/08/2022 07:15

Think both couples just wanted to be on tele. The well maintained gorgeous houses had two of the shitest room to have a make over . Think they were spare rooms they didn't use

JudgeRindersMinder · 11/08/2022 07:55

Absolutely LOVE what LLB did, and to be fair the couple embraced it too amd 6 weeks later they were keeping it.
I usually love pastels but I wasn’t keen on the pink amd yellow rooms. I did actually like the yellow wallpaper as a design, but there was too much of it for me. I think the whole scheme didn’t quite hit the mark for me, it felt like it was too matchy matchy.

I didn’t watch the last series, but this look a lot more promising than CR of old, as someone said upthread, it seems to be less about the tight budget than it used to be. Some of the things they used to come up with were ridiculous.

Anyone remember the display shelves collapsing under prized collection of teapots ?😂

LadyEloise1 · 11/08/2022 08:54

I'd love a Changing Rooms show where they did what the neighbours wanted.
But it probably wouldn't be good television but I wouldn't care.

If it's the same sh*te next week, I'm out..

BigSandyBalls2015 · 11/08/2022 14:04

I'm just reading about the one where all her favourite teapots got smashed ... £6,000 worth that she had collected for most of her adult life. Linda put them on a floating shelf which crashed to the floor 😳.

It was years ago and she was compensated, but the article goes on to say "I still don't feel very good about her. On the rare occasions that I see her on TV she's still very bouncy, and I just don't think she has earned that bounce" Grin
