Dominating the women's game, and winning multiple slams seems to be very difficult- she's the 12th new slam winner, in 19 finals, since Serena won in AO 2017. Only 4 have won more than one title (and Ash has now retired). It's hard to tell which players will actually back up the wins.

Disappointed for Ons, but Elena was definitely the better player on the day, so congratulations to her, a deserving winner. Understated is all very well but I must admit I found the total lack of emotion on winning a bit odd.

Ons parents are Tunisian viques they should have been allowed a visa.

Does anyone think that the women should play five sets? Some of these matches hardly get going... 😐

No @absolutelynotfabulous I don't. It would be too much over a tournament for any woman to contend with.

Jane I agree- extending the matches to 5 sets wouldn't make things more competitive for the majority of the women players. There would just be a lot of one sided 3 set wins, rather than 2.

Agreed and they could drop the men's doubles down to best of 3 sets if they are worried about scheduling. Although I've noticed this second week there have been fewer courts in action and play has ended earlier than in the first week so clearly there could be capacity for women to play best of 5 sets.

I'm torn, some women's matches it feels like it has just got going by the third and I'm desperate for more but the ultimate outcome would be more brute strength and less skill I guess.

Well if you want a fight to the death. Physically it would be too much.

I've always thought that since the women demanded equal winnings they should play 5 sets.
