I think maybe the BBC is assuming that everyone will use iPlayer if they want to watch particular matches. So the coverage on the broadcast channels is aimed at the casual viewer rather than dedicated tennis fans.

This match has completely swung around.

The other night on the 10pm main BBC news they said that Rafa was going to play Kyrgios next (unless they had consulted Jelena and her crystal ball!)

Not everyone can access iplayer, though ice (and the quality of it can be very hit and miss).

Yes I know not everyone has iPlayer, I was just speculating about the BBC’s thinking, not defending it. Agree there’s no excuse for basic factual errors!

I also follow gymnastics and the BBC coverage of that is similarly frustrating, they basically just show the British competitors plus the big names that they think people will have heard of, like Simone Biles.

I'm always amazed at little children who can sit through a full match. DS1 would have been asking to leave every other minute and DS2 would have probably climbed up to the top of the stands.
