Its a very sad life for some prisoners though, I mean they have been born into a violent household and neighbourhood and seem quite proud at the fact they end up in a young offenders institute at 11 . Its inevitebly a life of crime for some people - they know no difference .

expat I agree they are criminals and deserve to be behind bars and pay the price - but what I mean is, in the UK prisoners are treated differently (softer) than the USA where prison is more dehumanising.

on the whole, there's a lot more crime there than here - it's a larger, more varied population and there are a lot of drugs.
