I guess I feel sorry for 'SOME' prisoners because I used to work with young offenders who were on the brink of comitting serious crime - if you knew the type of upbringing they had and the type of neigbourhood they were brought up in you would understand.
For example, most of the offenders were VERY proud of the fact they were convicted of offences (and so were their parents ) Most ended up in a young offenders institue. However, when they reach the tender age of 16 and end up in prison, they are no longer pampered and looked after and of course, whatever the other inmates do to them/treat them (which is not good) they end up trying to commit suicide.
I just think we need to look at the whole picture, it really is so sad.
