I see Bublik has been his usual delightful self Hmm -Annabel is not impressed with his behaviour!

Every time I want to watch a match it doesn’t seem to be on Confused

Fizzywinegum · 23/06/2022 16:06

Oh it’s Robbie! After watching the beeb coverage last week I’ve missed him!

JaneJeffer · 23/06/2022 16:38

Fed up doing housework now. I've put Angie on. She's a set down to Alize Cornet.

Fizzywinegum · 23/06/2022 16:44

I’m watching Alex de Minaur and Tommy Paul - I didn’t realise Alex was going out with Katie Boulter

Housework is overrated Jane - I did some on Monday but it all looks the same again!

JaneJeffer · 23/06/2022 17:18

Oh yes he's been at all her matches.

Alize won. They are letting Angie speak. First time she's been beaten in Bad Homborg!

Some of the women's outfits are weird.

JaneJeffer · 23/06/2022 17:52

The Nike ones? @eddiemairswife

I'm wondering whether Ostapenko is wearing her kit for a bet, to be honest.

Will she wear a a white version at Wimbledon? It will look like a loo roll cover.

magimedi · 23/06/2022 18:31

Ostapenko looks like Ten Ton Tessie in that outfit. Did no one tell her...........

Very odd watching Eastbourne but I have no regrets.......... Non, rien de rien............

Raahh · 23/06/2022 18:32

'Tough as a $2 steak' Robbie is in top form.

Meanwhile, Daniil has lost his title in Mallorca, beaten by RBA in the QFs, that will be a blow, since he can't play next week.

But he will still be ahead of Djok. Which is all that matters Grin

Raahh · 23/06/2022 18:34

Magi Grin

Annabel is back to wearing her sunglasses as a headband. Clearly she doesn't have an optician who shouts at her like I do Grin.

JaneJeffer · 23/06/2022 19:02

magi** you will get cancelled Grin

PHH took a tumble in Illkley and injured his leg.

Still not seen any tennis but yes, apparently Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur have been going out for more than 2 years!

Still a bit fraught at Kazza Towers but Ginand Winehelps Grin

Polish sense of humour Jane Grin

Fizzywinegum · 24/06/2022 11:43

Good luck to your DS for his A levels and sailing kazza - Wine and Gin always help!

It looks as if Rafa has got quite a tough draw for Wimbledon but at least it doesn’t look as if he will be facing Kyrgios (hopefully!)

He was on centre court practising - looking nice in all white - they’re hoping that allowing players on the grass before the tournament starts will help to prevent players from getting injured

I’m going to watch a documentary about John McEnroe tonight - it’s part of a documentary festival - wonder if there’ll be any other tennis nerds there Grin

Fizzywinegum · 24/06/2022 11:48

Rafa’s potential draw:

R1: F Cerundolo

R2: Querrey
R3: Sonego/Popyrin
R4: Cilic/Van de Zandschulp

QF: Auger-Aliassime/Fritz
SF: Berrettini
F: Djokovic

JaneJeffer · 24/06/2022 11:54

Wow a bit of common sense. Whatever next?

Hope it's not that documentary with the really weird, annoying music Fizzy

I’m not sure Jane - it’s a new documentary - sounds quite interesting - it’s also got Keith Richards in it Grin

McEnroe” is an intimate portrait of one of the most explosive and compelling sporting icons of all time. Number One in the world in four consecutive years, John’s epic battles with Bjorn Borg helped define the golden era of tennis, yet huge controversy on and off the court betrayed an inner conflict. Set over one New York night, John journeys into memory to explore why a need for connection both drove him and nearly broke him.

“McEnroe” features completely unseen archive from some of the biggest matches in tennis history – including the US Open and Wimbledon – as well as home video footage from John himself. Contributions from John’s children and his wife Patty Smyth provide a level of intimacy that takes the film beyond a sports biopic and into the realms of something deeply confessional.

Compassionate and heartfelt, featuring icons such as Billie Jean King, Bjorn Borg and Keith Richards, “McEnroe” is the definitive portrait of a force of nature powered by the beating heart of New York.

JaneJeffer · 24/06/2022 12:21

The weird music one is old so that's not it. I love Keith Richards Grin

Rafa does have a tough draw- I was hoping Matteo would be in Djok's half.
I have seen a lot of people moaning about Rafa and Matteo playing at Wimbledon (and missing the point about why they are doing it). Saying the grass will be ruined before the start and it's not fair on lesser players who won't get the same chance.

Well to be be honest, given the number of players, and the number of matches -there are very few players who would get the chance to play beforehand anyway.

I wonder who will play the first women's match this year ? I know they had the same issue last year (when Halep was injured and couldn't defend her 2019 title) so Barty has said that really the fair thing to do would be to give Simona the chance this year. I like that idea. The alternative would be Iga, as the number 1 seed.

JaneJeffer · 24/06/2022 12:27

They'll be moaning more if everyone gets injured on slippy grass like last year!

OP posts:
Raahh · 24/06/2022 12:31

Jane if it had been Federer injured in the first round last year, and not Mannarino, they would have been replacing whole place with astro turf Grin

Fizzywinegum · 24/06/2022 12:35
Grin

There were lots of horrible injuries last year in the first few rounds
