I wonder if there will be a presentation for Sue at Wimbledon?

And maybe she could host 'wheeelie bin' tennis. For old times sake. Grin

Raahh · 19/06/2022 15:46

Tim is the reigning champion of the Wheelie bin challenge.

He beat 'our' Boris Sad

Such a lot has happened in 2 years!

JaneJeffer · 19/06/2022 15:48

She said she wants to go quietly but I'm sure they will do something to make her cry!

Fizzy I'm a bit torn. I want Rafa to play, but if he's not 100% fit and able to play, he risks losing early- which the nay-sayers will love - even though it's actually years since he had a first/second round exit.

Raahh · 19/06/2022 15:52

I only found out recently, that Lloyd Glasspool is the brother of Parry, who used to be in Hollyoaks. Once I realised- it was so obvious. They are very alike.

Raahh · 19/06/2022 15:55

Jane if there is not at least a video message from Roger- wearing an 'I love SB' t-shirt- I will be disappointed.

Raahh · 19/06/2022 15:57

Murray is not going to win Wimbledon, John, however much you keep mentioning his name.

ChessieFL · 19/06/2022 16:15

I would like Andy to win Wimbledon again but I agree it’s very unlikely!! I want Rafa to win, and if not him then Matteo. Although I’ll be happy with anyone except Djok, frankly.

Raahh · 19/06/2022 16:47

Chessie 'Anyone but Djokovic' should be pinned to the top of all our threads Grin

I would love Rafa to win - but I think if he repeats a semi final place again, that would be a great result. Happy to be wrong though, and for him to win. Grin

Matteo is coming into form at the right time, I would not be unhappy to see him win.

Djok can lose to Kyrgios in the first round. I dislike both- but it would be the ultimate humiliation (and then they might stop talking about Rafa's loss to Dick in 2014. Grin). We would have to put up with Kyrgios being lauded as the ''next big thing' but he can lose in the next round Grin

At least Rafa and Djok should be on opposite sides of the draw- (if they stick to rankings)and can only meet in the final.(Unless Wimbledon employ their 'grass' formula- but this year there are too many players missing for that to be viable, or fair, surely).

Fizzywinegum · 19/06/2022 17:29

I don’t think they do the grass formula any more Raahh - that’s what Tim told Mac the other week but maybe he said that just to shut him up!

I’m also anyone but Djok (but would like to see Kyrgios go out as early as possible - he’s just missed out on being seeded as well)

I’m sure they will do something for Sue at Wimbledon - she’s probably dreading it - I did like Matteo mentioning it today though - Roger might send her one of his special cardies Grin

I was thinking about the wheelie bin challenge the other day - we were so bored then - it was a real highlight! Strange times -I think I liked Sue even more during that crazy non-Wimbledon fortnight!

Raahh · 19/06/2022 17:37

Fizzy 2020 was a strange time- I actually loved watching the old matches, and Today at Wimbledon was still fun to watch at times.

I had a feeling they had ditched the formula-it never made much sense, I know not a lot of tournaments are played on grass, but weighting it still felt odd. Just as many players struggle with clay- but RG always stick to the rankings. I'm still not over Rafa being shafted to number 3 in 2019Grin.

Raahh · 19/06/2022 17:40

They have been waffling about Kyrgios being a dangerous 'floater' in the Wimbledon draw, all week.

I'm hoping he's burnt himself out the last couple of weeks (his attitude has certainly not improved).

JaneJeffer · 19/06/2022 18:03

I saw a photo of Dick with Stef. He was smiling. I had to look twice to make sure it was him.

Mama1980 · 19/06/2022 19:51

Definitely team anyone but Djokovic Grin

Raahh · 19/06/2022 20:01

Mama..and Kyrgios . I

Definitely not Kyrgios.

He's been moaning that because he lives in Aus , he has to travel to tournaments, and that affects his ranking not just the fact he's not won that much.
Europeans have an unfair advantage, according to him.
Don't remember reports of Laver moaning , or Rosewell, or Newcombe. Or any other Australian really.
Because they had class, and actually cared enough to win things. And plenty of players move and don't live in their native country.

I am so bored of the Kyrgios stuff- he's 27 now. And they are still talking about him like he's Alcaraz, and a teenage sensation. Hmm

ChessieFL · 19/06/2022 20:09

Didn’t seem to affect Ashleigh Barty too much…..

Raahh · 19/06/2022 20:15

Exactly. She didn't complain- and she was affected by the Covid stuff too.

He's just nowhere near as good as he's been lead to think. And that's his problem.

Raahh · 20/06/2022 16:02

I'm watching Tiafoe/Bublik playing in Eastbourne. Bublik has been complaining about the win throughout. I thik he said he hated it there at one point- and suggested they get a roof. GrinHe's done at least 2 underarm serves .Hmm

We 'll add grass to surfaces Bublik doesnt like, then.

Raahh · 20/06/2022 16:02

*wind

Raahh · 20/06/2022 16:04

Now Tiafoe is moaning about an over rule- fair bit of swearing today Grin

Poor commentators are constantly apologising.

Fizzywinegum · 20/06/2022 16:07

I’m really not a Bublik fan Raahh - is Eastbourne on Prime?

I’ve been doing some housework - getting the house prepared so that I can spend the Wimbledon fortnight doing nothing but watch tennis (hopefully!)

I’m bored now though - might watch a bit of tennis …

ChessieFL · 20/06/2022 16:14

It’s on BBC2 Fizzy

Raahh · 20/06/2022 16:15

Fizzy the men are on Prime, the women are on BBC2.
I rooting for Big Foe- Bublik is just a twerp.

JaneJeffer · 20/06/2022 16:26

Watched some of the Linette/Riske match. The umpire was a bit stroppy 'I will not change my decision'.

Naomi's telling us all about the food available. Ice cream van sounds good right now.
