Anyone watching this series?
I really loved the flat with the garden which lead into the lovely path to the sea couldn't believe their bad luck when it fell through!

I'm watching it but I've gone off them in general. A family member was on love it or list it recently and Phil gave really poor advice! He took them to terrible areas and options within our city and the show was edited to dumb down my family members to make them look like they were divided and that she was stupid when in actual fact they both expressed they wished to stay there as her family lived round the corner and both have advanced degrees/qualifications and worked in high level roles. They just wanted advice to build space. And they said that Kirsty and Phil were barely there and only turned up for the filmed bits that's it. and that they were very different off camera. I was a huge fan of the show to the point that when I go to buy my first home later this year/next year I was going to apply but after seeing the reality of both shows I think I won't bother now.

Not since Phil and the deer incident, “I enjoy watching life slip away”- psychotic!

‘The show was edited to dumb down my family’

Ah sure op, that old chestnut 😉

mycatisannoying · 27/05/2022 06:35

@WhatDoIDoNow3

This would really wind me up if it happened to my family, so I can see why it would put you off!

Madamecastafiore · 27/05/2022 06:37

Why did they bother going on Love It or List It if they only wanted advice about build space?

Ragwort · 27/05/2022 06:39

I did see that beautiful flat, looked wonderful.

I do think it's become more the 'Kirsty and Phil' show with too much emphasis on them and their silly little comments, but I still like to watch it. Blush.

lollipoprainbow · 27/05/2022 06:39

I felt so sorry for the lovely couple who missed out on that lovely flat as the owner decided not to sell. It was so right for them after the previous horrors they were shown!! I hope they have found somewhere else.

But why would you apply for a programme that explored the options for moving or staying put if they never had any intention to move. That is literally the point of the show! Presumably they lied to get some free advice, which is fine, but you can't then complain the show edited them to fit the narrative, ie divided.

And of course Kirsty and Phil don't do the leg work!

I loved that they had a couple who didn't have a magic giant deposit, who were not asking for the earth, on the show. Felt more like the early days.

That flat would have been lovely (unless upstairs neighbours were noisy) the park giving the advantages of a big garden without the upkeep.
Really felt for them and hope they've since found somewhere lovely.

WaterBottle123 · 27/05/2022 07:15

@jay55

Yes WHERE do these 400k deposits from kids in their 20's come from?

Jo is a teacher is a primary school
Geoff is a junior civil servant

They have saved 750k through moving in with parents for six months and have a total budget of 1.1 million....

XVGN · 27/05/2022 07:25

Property rampers - both. Their idea of a hard deal is offering the full price rather than asking+5%.

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 27/05/2022 07:25

What a gorgeous flat! I could walk my dog straight out of the back and into the park without a lead! And right next to that park are a range of lovely pubs, restaurants and independent shops - it's a beautiful area. Clevedon was top of our list when we looked to relocate from Bristol but we couldn't afford it (as we were adamant we wanted a house). I can't believe there are still large flats available for £250k.

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 27/05/2022 07:27

For anyone who wants a location reference, I believe they were standing in Pier Copse.

MrsJamin · 27/05/2022 08:07

@WhatDoIDoNow3 the entire premise of love it or list it is someone wants to stay and someone wants to sell! Not surprised they changed the narrative if your family members lied to get on the show so they could get some cheap building advice. 🤔 Just pay an architect like the rest of us do!

Exactly!

movemyshed · 27/05/2022 09:10

WhatDoIDoNow3

Your family members rather dumbed themselves down by applying to take part in a programme which is entirely based on one of the couple wanting to stay and the other to move!

MindatWork · 27/05/2022 09:17

Some of the younger buyers they had on the last series had absolutely ridiculous deposits - the show came in for a real hammering on twitter.

I remember one young couple who had a deposit of £400k for their first property and they were like kids playing house. I much prefer more realistic couples like the middle-aged nhs workers who had a small deposit to get their first place together - the guy really wanted a nice garden to relax in after the stress of working through the pandemic 🥺.

I thought the woman on the first episode of this series was awful - she went and sat in the car halfway through the viewing because she didn’t like it 🤦‍♀️

lollipoprainbow · 27/05/2022 09:47

@MindatWork it was a joke !! Her and Kirsty were winding up Phil !!

MindatWork · 27/05/2022 10:52

@lollipoprainbow Ohhhhh I missed that bit 🤣

LadyEloise1 · 27/05/2022 16:10

I still really like the show but am disappointed they're not so nice when the filming stops.
Anyone else notice / look at Kirstie's rings, dresses, coats and shoes when watching ? Smile

FoggySpecs · 27/05/2022 17:04

Come on it's their jobs. Also I preferred it when people had a huge amounts of money pre 2008 crash and bought amazing houses as I want to see stunning houses with six bedrooms etc. It isn't about the people so much as about the houses for me and seeing how other people live.

yeah, I lloved that place too & was so disappointed for them.

CottonSock · 27/05/2022 17:10

I really liked both couples and felt for them in the Bristol Market.
I also loved the navy jacket of the Yorkshire born lady. Any ideas?

They didn't lie, they were open to looking for another home but both were more inclined to stay and have Kirsty's help for space instead. But the show twisted the narrative and had no interest in actually supporting either of them or their family in achieving either goal it was self done. In the end they didn't even end up going with Kirsty's idea either because it made no sense in terms of planning permissions. They are the sweetest couple and the racial and other abuse they received due to how the show edited and the comments kirsty and phil made during the show were disgusting. Also as stated, Phil was bloody useless and took them to inappropriate house options or really terrible areas. The show filmed a whole segment about how they wanted to be near to family still regardless due to health issues of family and other support issues yet they didn't show that part and made them look fussy.
