Who do you think was underrated?

I voted for France. They got diddly-squat. Shocked for them, I thought it was banger!

I’m in the U.K. and couldn’t vote on mobile, kept trying but wouldn’t work

I couldn't get mobile to work for Ukraine so used landline for them. It was ok for voting for The Netherlands and Estonia.

PrinzessinCressida · 15/05/2022 01:25

Thank you, @MatildaJayne. That website is really helpful.

@luciatrope my favourites were, in this order, Sweden, UK, Lithuania, Spain, Greece, Switzerland and Italy. I think Lithuania was underrated.

The Polish song is actually the love-child of Wicked Game (Chris Isaac) and Mad World (Tears for Fears) which is bloody brilliant!

You're right. But the Donnie Darko / Gary Jules Mad World

The Kyiv Independent
@KyivIndependent
⚡️Zelensky: 'We will do everything to one day host Eurovision in a Ukrainian Mariupol.'

The president thanked Kalush Orchestra for its performance at Eurovision 2022 and all who voted for Ukraine.

"I'm sure our victorious chord in the battle with the enemy is not far off."

And now I've got something in my eyes

We voted for Lithuania. There were some nice songs this year.

Funny how we go from 'we'd be so happy to get anything more than nul points' to 'we came second and we wuz robbed!!!

It's a song contes but it's been political since time immemorial. At least it's been used constructively this time, to show support for Ukraine. Be happy that you have the luxury of sitting comfortably at home and happily whingeing about how unfair it all is. Things could be worse.

Spot on 👍

TooBigForMyBoots · 15/05/2022 02:19

I thought Germany woz robbed. But it sounded very familiar, maybe it was a rip off of something else? Combined with a bit of Eminem.

user1469779776 · 15/05/2022 02:43

Well done to the UK, it was a great song. Im Irish and was a tad shocked that we only gave you 2 points. Pretty disappointed to be honest.

RedToothBrush · 15/05/2022 04:43

So who gave is the points?

Malta 20
Azerbaijan 20
Austria 20
Israel 20
Ukraine 19
Germany 18
Portugal 16
Georgia 16
Belgium 15
San Marino 14
Sweden 14
Lithuania 14
Iceland 14
Ireland 14
France 14
Albania 14
Finland 14
Czech Republic 14
Moldova 13
Hungary 13
Norway 12
Netherlands 12
Italy 12
Denmark 12
Romania 11
Poland 11
Latvia 11
Spain 11
Switzerland 11
Estonia 9
Cyprus 9
Northern Macedonia 8
Australia 7
Montenegro 5
Greece 5
Slovenia 2
Serbia 2
Armenia 1

We got points from every country. This pattern isn't particularly political. Even if you look at the televote alone there isn't that going on. Its just not a thing. It was a good song.

Interesting fact. The countries that scored us lowest scored Serbia highest.

I did like Poland's song

AllyCatTown · 15/05/2022 08:22

Well done UK. So much for the narrative and tantrums that no one would vote us. I bet those seeking to cause bad feelings towards Europe here are disappointed.

Antarcticant · 15/05/2022 08:29

It was such fun to watch when we were regularly getting points, compared to previous years of nul points or one sympathy vote from Malta or somewhere.

It was a decent song and Sam made the effort to tour Europe with it and get it on the radar. He did everything right, and we had the luck factor of getting a decent slot on the night.

Taytocrisps · 15/05/2022 08:33

Congrats. everyone in the UK. I was disappointed for you that you lost, after all the excitement when you were top of the scoreboard for so long. But I was also happy that Ukraine won. I don't like the way they give the jury results and then at the end add on the audience votes. I'd rather they just combined them and gave one result from each country.

I was nodding off during the results bit, even though I had a nap yesterday afternoon. It really is a marathon.

I was really surprised at the surge of votes for Serbia but I put it down to drunk people voting for it, for a laugh.

Antarcticant · 15/05/2022 08:41

You're right. But the Donnie Darko / Gary Jules Mad World

Yes! It was that one I was thinking of but forgot it was a re-release. I hope Ochman gets a hit out of 'River' in the UK on the strength of our 10 points and their respectable overall 12th place.

I saw this earlier this morning on Facebook. Gives details of the public vote.

And Oz. Oh dear.

Thanks that's a very useful diagram going to study it in detail later

I had a weird dream last night where we came second In Eurovision. At one point we were top of the leader board. Can any dream interpreters tell me what it means

It reminded me of "Fun stars bring the house down" which the entertainment staff sing at Haven Holiday parks!

Germany.
We quite liked it. Was very much along the lines of a Lewis Capaldi/Ed Sheehan style tune. Definitely wasn't a nil points effort. Was glad they go some points in the public vote. I hate it when someone, albeit usually the UK, gets nothing.

BlossomWind · 15/05/2022 09:46

So what's all this about then: eurovision.tv/mediacentre/release/ebu-statement-voting-during-2022-shows

I don't understand what it means. Voting is always political, do they think these countries had a specific agreement they would all vote tactically and who they would vote for? Also, what does aggregate mean here - they took the votes of all the other countries and then gave the "bad" juries an average of that as their voting results? But then wouldn't they all ended up with the same results?

Antarcticant · 15/05/2022 09:54

Looking at the statement, they used the results of countries with a 'similar voting record'. All a bit iffy. Voting for your pals is nothing new. They didn't disallow Greece/Cyprus reciprocal voting.
