Poland was the estate agent selling a flat

trtt · 15/05/2022 00:09

If the Ukraine cannot host next year it goes to one of the top 5 so it could be in the hosted in the U.K. next year possibly

I'm pleased for Ukraine BUT annoyed at the same time. We won in reality, lost to a sympathy vote.

It wasn’t a sympathy vote. It was a supportive, fuck Putin vote.

MrsJackGrealish · 15/05/2022 00:09

I still feel for Germany. They deserved more than what they got.

SoggyPaper · 15/05/2022 00:09

in the current geopolitical circumstances 2nd place is winning the song contest. Ukraine were always going to win it; it wasn’t about the song.

How do they work out the number of points from the public vote?

Pennox · 15/05/2022 00:09

What are the Ukranian boys saying? Hope it's FU Putin?

wonderstuff · 15/05/2022 00:09

DrBlackbird · 15/05/2022 00:05

That Ukrainian singer hidden by a carpet has got to be President zelensky…

Wouldn’t that be epic!

i dont think it’s pity, it was a catchy song and it is a bit political, Europe has sent a message to Ukraine and Russia that we stand with Ukraine.

Excellent result

the80sweregreat · 15/05/2022 00:10

It's hypnotic though.
Well done Ukraine
Night everyone !
See you all next year

MintyMoocow · 15/05/2022 00:10

If Russia nukes us, we might win next year.

RedToothBrush · 15/05/2022 00:10

howler21 · 15/05/2022 00:07

So it quite literally is Putin’s fault that we lost

I don't buy that.

If there hadn't been the Ukraine thing and they got lots of votes out of sympathy, if there hadn't been a war where would the points for them have gone?

Its not as simple as just saying that it cost us.

DressingGownofDoom · 15/05/2022 00:10

'Putin cost us a Eurovision victory! Now it's personal '

🤣🤣🤣
I love all these people who are all Slava Ukraine until they beat us in Eurovision then they transform into Daily Mail readers

Igotjelly · 15/05/2022 00:10

So many bitter posts. As others have said some things matter more than a song contest. It’s a sign of Europe pulling together and I’ll take it 🇺🇦

the80sweregreat · 15/05/2022 00:10

Sam to sing again next year too!!

myrtlehuckingfuge · 15/05/2022 00:11

Very happy with that result. My youngest voted Ukraine and happy to see UK public vote went that way too. I thought that it was a very decent competition this year. (Not just because where we came - I'd share the household scoring sheet but bit too revealing Norway=Minions on LSD etc- good night! ).

PrettyMaybug · 15/05/2022 00:11

Aww well done Ukraine. How wonderful that we came second.

LINABE · 15/05/2022 00:11

Meant to add - well done Ukraine and now I've heard the song again it's really growing on me!!!

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 15/05/2022 00:11

itsgettingweird · 15/05/2022 00:11

And Europe showed they stand with Ukraine.

The point is love and community, the songs are second to that.

Yes so I’m actually fascinated that we came second. We had a wonderful song, but so did some others who came low like Azerbaijan, and as we all know Eurovision is 90% political, it’s a political weathervane. So… Does this great result mean that Europe has forgiven us for Brexit? Are we all friends again? 🎉 🎈 🎉

purplepaintedpineapple · 15/05/2022 00:11

@SoggyPaper same as the country panel votes (12,10, etc) but they add them all together in to one big score

Antarcticant · 15/05/2022 00:11

AngeloMysterioso · 15/05/2022 00:07

Interesting that our second highest vote went to Poland… I can’t even remember what their song was?!

It sounded really like something else, possibly from the 90s - can't for the life of me work out what but I reckon it charted in the UK but nowhere else!

Oscarthedog · 15/05/2022 00:11

Every year we get nul points and we people accuse us of sending a crap song. Today's vote shows that it was always political. And I'm sure Vlad doesn't give a crap that Ukraine won so not sure what the vote was supposed to achieve.
