Taskmaster Series 13

Started last night - Ardal O’Hanlon, comedian Bridget Christie, Chris Ramsey, Judi Love and actress and podcaster Sophie Duker. And of these my favourite is Sophie, even though I had no idea who she was. Another laugh out loud show!

This is mine and eds favourite tv programme. Even when we think we are not really in the mood for it, we are laughing before the first break. Even the intros to the breaks are funny.
One of our most favourite contestants was Mike Wozniak. He was just so funny

The flying sausage game was hilarious.

I cried laughing at Ardal and the mannequin and Chris and the sausages. So funny. Bridget and her total bafflement at the pedometer also had me creased.

I've listened to the latest TM podcast with Bridget in it. It's clear she still hasn't got a clue how a pedometer works! 😂

The cement mixer sausage game has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen on tv full stop. I listen to the SMA podcast and as soon as I heard Chris was going to be on TM I knew he'd be good at it - it's totally up his street.

How Judi keeps a straight face I'll never know.

The task last week with the hidden keys was good and I loved the ducks in the first episode too.

This is the first series I've properly watched so I now have 12 previous series to catch up on!

BotCrossHuns · 16/06/2022 22:36

Some very funny tasks - totally different from any shows I normally watch, but I still look forward to this. Hope series 14 isn't too far away! champion of champions next week though.

But interesting that there are apparently tasks that aren't shown, as Ardal and Chris referenced them tonight in their song. I knew that they already mixed and matched the order of tasks to create the shows, but didn't know they left some out.

so really, they could create people who've never won a show, or prevent it, if they wanted. the only things that might stop them are the final live task, prize task and/or any prerecorded tie breaks. I guess in some ways they also create the winner, depending on which tasks overall they leave out. I know Greg doesn't score them until the night, but they have some idea of who is going to do well in the various tasks. I assume at least that the scoring , prize tasks, and the live task are really done in the studio show rather than before, but I don't even know that for sure.

anyone know how it really works, or been in the studio audience?

apparently they have been filming the studio episodes for series 14 recently, which means all the tasks must have been done ages ago.

I'm sad this series didn't get as much love as some others.
The quirky mix of comedians gelled so well! I particularly loved Sophie, I'd never heard of her but when she referenced l'Origine du Monde on the food task she totally peaked for me.
Greg and Alex seemed to particularly enjoy the whole thing.
Their reactions to the item tasks were perfect.
And special shout out to Ardal's Swedish story...

BotCrossHuns · 17/06/2022 07:59

I'd not heard of her before either. I'd not heard of any of them except Ardal, actually - my celebrity knowledge is minimal! I watched the previous series because of Victoria C-M and Alan Davies, both of whom I'd heard of, and enjoyed it enough to keep watching even with people I didn't know.

I thought Sophie was very clever at some of the tasks and I liked her, though not sure I would like her style of comedy performance particularly. Nor Judi, who I was less keen on, but she definitely fit in well on this sort of show.

I enjoyed the other three too, specially Chris and Bridget, who was just so deliberately (I think) bafflingly clueless half the time. I liked that Sophie didn't try to play up bewilderment at any time and just got on with doing things. Chris too, and his one bafflement, about not realising the hat and shoes was a craft task, was genuine. Ardal was just slightly laid back and lazy about it all, but Greg always liked him anyway.

Alex and Greg seemed to be laughing at/with these contestants much more than usual!

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 17/06/2022 09:45

I felt genuinely sad last night, that this was the end of this series. I think it is one of the best so far - thoroughly enjoyable! I really warmed to Judi and Ardal, and found Bridget's quirky take on some of the tasks really entertaining. Roll on the next series!

I always start every series with a 'it's not going to be as good as the last one' feeling, and then am so sad with the final episode. I did take me a while to warm to Judi. I think I didn't like her faux reactions to things but she did grow on me. I was in tears when they did Bridget's walking montage. She is so hilarious, whether intentionally or not. Loved Sophie and I think I have seen her on Mock the Week or something like that.
Looking forward to the Champion of champions next week and maybe they'll show who is in the next series.

Chelsea26 · 17/06/2022 11:00

@BotCrossHuns Yes the scoring, prize and live tasks are done in the studio. They film the house tasks over a period of months before (mainly down to artist availability).

They do film more tasks then they show but they don’t create winners as such it’s just that some tasks don’t translate so well so they just pick the funniest!

The next series has already been filmed and it’s a blinder! Due to do at least two more, filming (in the studio) in September 2022 and April 2023.

You can apply for tickets here www.sroaudiences.com/application.asp?show_id=1453

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 17/06/2022 12:11

There was an article where Alan Davies said he was particularly pleased with his performance in an art themed task. However, he revealed the challenge couldn’t be aired as other contestants had designed artwork that was too rude for telly!

OP posts:
BotCrossHuns · 17/06/2022 13:45

oh I'm glad to hear there are more coming.

I did see somewhere about the studio audience already filmed for next series and who the contestants were, but not sure if it was true - sounds like it probably was. i don't remember them because I never know any celebs beforehand!

I wonder how rude the artwork was! They allowed a fair bit on this show - an food model of the female genitals; various suggestions in the colour purple task, etc.

I guess they can't totally create winners, but they can put the right tasks together for a show to give someone a decent chance at winning - I thought they put VCM's code breaking task together with some of her other good ones to give her a decent episode, and they tried to do it with Judi but it didn't work! Or if someone is winning too many, they might put a few of their bad ones together next time.

The dancing / walking montage was up there with the spinning sausages for me! So funny!

this is the first series I’ve seen properly and have loved it.

wasn’t sure about ardal to begin with but I’ve warmed to him and think they’re a great team.

their joint look of disappointment when Judi didn’t win last week said a lot about them.

Same here. There's normally at least one contestant I've never heard of and they frequently end up being my favourite.

I'm just amazed that the production team can continue to come up with new challenges. It must be quite hard as they have to limit those that really rely on peak physical fitness or a certain skill.
I'm sure they were caught out by Ardal knowing a Swedish folk song!

SerendipityJane · 18/06/2022 11:19

play.acast.com/s/the-taskmaster-podcast

has a lot of inside gen on the series ...

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 18/06/2022 23:35

Just caught up with the final, really wanted Chris to win but I did like Sophie. Brilliant series. So funny.

Parpophone · 23/06/2022 12:55

Champion of champions tonight. 9pm C4

Topgub · 23/06/2022 22:10

I love taskmaster, really enjoyed this series.

The task in the final with the ducks had me in stitches

Looking forward to champions

WhatICallMyUsername · 23/06/2022 22:28

OMG Sarah Millican in the next series Grin

Mooserp · 24/06/2022 17:42

Enjoyed the return of Liza Tarbuck. Loved the beard 😄

Halsall · 24/06/2022 17:52

The beard was great. Strangely persuasive Grin

Doubleraspberry · 24/06/2022 18:11

Liza Tarbuck is a goddess. I wish we could have a whole other series of her.

Cashwhat · 24/06/2022 18:23

The best tasks for me, are those ones where they just get one individual to do them. Like a Josh Widdicome and the counting beans tasks. His outrage at finding out it was just him counting beans had us all in stitches. I love that it's something we can put on and all of us can watch ages 12-45 Grin

LookAtMyCircumstance · 24/06/2022 19:09

Cashwhat and they made him sing the theme tune as well - his little face when he realised it was just him Grin

BruceAndNosh · 24/06/2022 21:10

Liza Tarbuck seems to have morphed Into Eddie Izzard

Topgub · 26/06/2022 00:34

Me too @Doubleraspberry

One of favourite all time contestants.

Kerry godlieman too.

Loved this special.

Can't wait for the new series, great line up.

BotCrossHuns · 26/06/2022 11:06

wonder when series 14 is starting? We know the people now, and all the studio bits have been filmed, so it's being edited now I guess.. probably Sept/Oct? So ten weeks to finish in early/mid Dec before all the Christmas stuff gets going?
