What TV shows do all your family like?

Trying to find a TV show the whole family will enjoy. (i.e. actually sit and watch together without arguing or demanding to be allowed to go play on a computer!)

The DC are 9 and 13.

Wins so far include His Dark Materials, Bake Off, Would I Lie To You and Task Master (bleeped version).

Can anyone recommend anything?

If you have DC, what programmes will your whole family watch together?

Thanks :)

Ghosts.
Modern family
Big Bang theory

"Is it cake?" On Netflix looks like something family friendly the whole family could enjoy. I haven't watched it myself yet but noticed it earlier on Netflix.

Race across the world.

DS is 21 now but honestly we could never find anything we all enjoyed together ... DS and DH will watch sport ... very, very occasionally we could find a film we all enjoyed (about once a year!). The idea of all sitting happily watching the same tv programme just never happened.

If we wanted 'together time' we were much better off playing cards or a board game.

Sorry - I know that's not very helpful. Grin

Modern family is just the best family viewing ever.
Also Brooklyn 99.
Both a tad inappropriate so you would be best to view an episode or two in advance.

We loved 'Round the World in Eighty Days' that was on BBC at Christmas.

We also like anything with David Attenborough. Currently watching Green Planet with DD (10) and DS (8)

Seconding Ghosts

ChoiceMummy · 20/03/2022 20:28

Apart from the obvious documentaries, our current favourites are:
Greenhouse academy
The bureau of magical things
A series of unfortunate events
The umbrella academy.
Night books

Unlisted could be good too.

Some great suggestions here, thanks!

I'm half way through ghosts with DD, will maybe watch it with everyone once she's forgotten enough to enjoy it again (which happens relatively quickly! About 6 months or so IME)

We tried Round the World in Eighty Days but 9yo DD couldn't get into it, the dialogue was a bit too old for her I think.

Can't be arsed to watch the Umbrella Academy again. DP and I watched most of it, we've got about 3 left I think, then we got distracted and never finished it!

We do watch Attenbourough, DP in particular loves them. And documentaries on space too, if there's a good one. But DD's attention wanders unless it's very engaging for her. Will Smith presented a nature show on a channel we don't have, I forget which one (at their gran's) that they loved.

I'll have a look at the rest of them and see if they'd suit, thanks everyone :)

We've all just started watching 'is it cake' and I can definitely recommend. We all have Covid and it's been a life saver. Watch it every night together.

Not sure how long it will be before the novelty wares off but for now it's chewing gum and just what we need.

@cptartapp

Race across the world.
We loved this I hope they bring it back but I'm guessing it won't be for a while. It's probably the least covid friendly / most covid nightmare to film show ever
XelaM · 20/03/2022 23:51

None
The teens only want to watch young influencers on you tube and rap songs and tiktok compilations. They refuse to even watch a movie with me.
