@DrSbaitso - Kathryn's looks when you see her without makeup and shorter hair (extensions) are certainly a lot different from what you see now. Just shows what a bit of makeup and hair styling can do for you. I couldn't believe that she also hadn't researched her materials and found out you can buy them from China!

It was interesting actually what one of the interviewers said to Stephanie (she of the bad hair extensions!) - that when she relaxed her guard a bit and smiled she looked far more approachable and I could see that. Her business was ok but you could see she was winging it with the authentication bit.

Britney (however you spell it) I had high hopes for - she was good in the other tasks but she was ripped to bits by this including her presentation (was it Mike or Claude?) who told her to look at theirs (which was bound and nice), she came across as a bit of an airhead only interested in the gym and certainly hadn't done her homework.

Harpreet really pissed me off a bit - ok she can talk the talk but yes as an interviewer pointed out she's so bossy - I would hate to work for her. She was lucky Suralan looked past the 'sister' working with her. I really can't see her business taking off - who's going to want to order desserts in Yorkshire?!

All the ideas are rubbish and it's a shame that eg the last male candidates, Akeem and Aaron, respectively with their sportswear and security businesses got booted out - I think the sportswear could've been a goer not the security.

Blossomtoes · 18/03/2022 15:39

who's going to want to order desserts in Yorkshire?!

The thousands of people who holiday there? Don’t people who live in Yorkshire eat sweet things?

BiscuitLover3678 · 18/03/2022 15:49

Brittany definitely didn’t have a viable idea. Fewer and fewer people are drinking alcohol - I know so many people who are reducing their alcohol intake to be healthier. Who would really choose a high protein alcoholic drink? It’s not something people tend to combine.

eddiemairswife · 18/03/2022 15:54

Desserts are puddings or afters in Yorkshire and the rest of the country.

@Blossomtoes - I meant generally who would want to order desserts for delivery generally and Yorkshire is where her business is.

E.g. I live in SE London but I wouldn't order desserts to be delivered and neither would anyone else I know, therefore, why would people in Yorkshire want them delivered?

If it's to go to a dessert parlour (lots near where I live) - yes there is a demand for that but also if you see that people want less sugary/fatty options it is less of an option.

@BiscuitLover3678 - Brittany didn't have a viable idea but she'd certainly come over very well in the previous tasks - and I could see her winning the Apprentice.

Her idea did let her down, high protein and alcohol don't go together in my book as the interviewer pointed out it didn't work in USA. Brittany should've known this though and not ploughed ahead to develop/promote it.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 18/03/2022 16:02

Having regularly passed it on a Saturday night, I think my local rugby club might give it a go Biscuit. Grin I'm not saying it would be the most responsible marketing campaign ever (or the market she wants) but I could see it being popular with the type of people who lift weights just to get massive arms/chests.

Having looked, I'd think I'd stick to Bettys over Barni's if I were after something sweet in Yorkshire, but I know people who really like dessert parlours.

BiscuitLover3678 · 18/03/2022 16:34

I agree @Gonnagetgoing that’s what I meant.
She did also annoy me quite a bit on the tasks as she lied a lot and came across quite bitchy a few times. She was still a good candidate though.

That’s actually a very good point with the rugby lads!

But a premixed can?

BiscuitLover3678 · 18/03/2022 16:35

I’ll admit I frequently look on Deliveroo to see if I can find someone to deliver dessert type goods. Blush I end up having to walk to my local corner shop and buy a bag of M&Ms and Whatever half melted ice cream tub is left.

Everyone in the UK calls them puddings, desert is more an American term but is obviously used here too
Whatadayyyy · 18/03/2022 16:56

If I want matching pyjamas I just go to primark

Yes, the girls' businesses were all a bit meh

EthelTheAardvark · 18/03/2022 18:56

@malificent7

I think the second hand baby clothes and protein booze ideas were best but Harpreet and Katherine were the best people to work for siralan. I think Harpreet might win.
The thing is they're not supposed to work for him, they're supposed to be running their businesses with a bit of support from him. I can't see how, realistically, he's going to make any profit on his investment in either of Harpreet's or Katherine's businesses. If they went on Dragon's Den they would both be chewed up and spat out.
Riverlee · 18/03/2022 19:33

@DrSbaitso

I didn’t like the pouty sneery stuff which was on display during the interviews when she was pulled up.

I actually loved her for that! She wasn't crying or defeated, she was ready to fight!

Me too. I felt she was giving as good as she got. She wasn’t being intimidated. Kathryn was someone who grew on me over the series.
Somanyquestions1984 · 18/03/2022 20:37

Kathryn was great. I didn't see this bitchiness everyone apparently saw. I actually expected it from her after the first episode but found her to be supportive of other candidates like Akshay for example.

To me she is beautiful make up or not and sadly she’ll receive a lot of hate for it but she has a winning smile and “the look” (pretty, edgy but still a little racially ambiguous) so she’ll be successful anyway.

SavaDc · 18/03/2022 21:52

A real shame that as this programme has progressed through, each series has become less and less about business and more about Instagram and celebrity culture. Staged and about wanna-be's.

This is Kathryn's second tv series. Definitely on the celebrity track.

Maireas · 19/03/2022 08:07

I felt sorry for Brittany, although Soutar was quite kind when she started to cry. She was a bit naive, I think.
I don't like Kathryn's matching expensive jammies from China, but I think she's a capable person.

DesertStorms · 19/03/2022 08:07

AS doesn’t seem to take it seriously either. He just seems to be there for the laughs now. It’s become a parody of itself.

Maireas · 19/03/2022 08:08

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

Maybe 🤷‍♀️

I think she will be one of life’s winners.

Just maybe not with the jammies.

I agree. She'll definitely succeed.
Maireas · 19/03/2022 08:14

Mike was really kind to Kathryn, gifting her the websites. What a silly mistake.

Ellmau · 19/03/2022 08:46

@Pebbledashery

I still can't get over how awful the final 4 were and how totally unlikeable the final 2 are.
I didn't like Kathryn at the start but I've warmed to her over the process.

I do think Harpreet is bossy and would hate to work for her.

Wasn't former winner Sarah's sweets business co-owned with her husband?

DoingAway · 19/03/2022 08:49

I don’t get the matching pyjamas but each to their own. I like to see and feel pyjamas before buying as welll because you need them to be comfortable.

There are a few desert only places local to me having just looked at Just Eat so it’s clearly already a thing.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 19/03/2022 09:10

I really like Mike.

He was indeed kind to Kathryn. That would be one of the first things you do -setting up web stuff. Amazed that she didn’t do it.

Steph came across lovely (as did Brit) in You're Fired. And aye, I think Claudine was lovely to her.

It must be really tense. I think Brit just realised that she was completely unprepared. Who wouldn’t soften at seeing someone realise that?

Love Claude though. If he was my gaffer I’d worship him I think. Im glad he is on the mend. And thank goodness he had an ambulance chasing him 🙂

Maireas · 19/03/2022 09:12

I think that the interviews were quite fair, if understandably rigorous. It showed a lot of naivety on the part of the candidates, though.
