It was much better when the prize was they would go to work for him, though I'm sure I read somewhere that one of the winners said she was paid the money and not given any work to do.

I can't believe that those were the best business ideas in candidates who applied to be on the program. They were all absolutely awful. Why did they think Alan Sugar would be interested in any of them?

MichaelAndEagle · 17/03/2022 23:23

Stephanie's was a good idea I thought. Better than Pjs.

dillite · 17/03/2022 23:28
@Greyskiesaregonnaclearup , I also think Stephanie's business has potential, there is a website based in Kent called thechildrensaloon.com, it's turnover is massive and 80% of its sales are overseas, I suspect Stephanie is familiar with how big the designer market is.
I used to shop at the childrenssalon all the time. They sell brand new clothes though. Not second hand at stupid prices.

Amethystbluexo · 18/03/2022 00:05

Don’t suppose there will be another different thread for the next episode? Preferably one without OP and her overly prickish comments

EthelTheAardvark · 18/03/2022 00:28

@littlbrowndog

Gawd they are all so poor. Worse ever Remeber the bloke that done nail clippers. I bought them and still have them
Did he ever do anything else?
Gonnagetgoing · 18/03/2022 00:48

Why is Karen so up herself and smug?!

movingsoon13 · 18/03/2022 01:07

I really wanted Aaron to be in the final so I am slightly gutted, I do think either him or Harpreet should have won but ultimately I think it will be Kathryn who will win, because lord sugar has already invested in a bakery.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/03/2022 01:22

I’m really looking forward to seeing this tomorrow.

I work alongside someone like the lovely Linda. I’m in awe in a fan girl stylee and terrified of her all at the same time.

Most perplexing.

JemimaTab · 18/03/2022 03:29

Looking at the website, the PJs aren’t really PJs - they’re sleep shorts with short sleeved tops, Both kids and adults. The men’s tops are just plain tees, so they just look like they’re in their boxers. I can’t see too many people going for these for the whole family IMO.

DesertStorms · 18/03/2022 04:40

It feels like a pantomime now with Karen as the pantomime dame. Tim looks uncomfortable and bored I think. They all laugh in a forced way at Sugar’s pathetic jokes. The business ideas are just awful and not researched or thought through at all. The main emphasis seems to be on looking good. It’s just going through the motions now and has lost all its originality.

SonicBroom · 18/03/2022 04:41

The two bitches made it through

I know, I remember seeing them in the first show and immediately disliking their cattiness. Along with Britnee. Although I have liked the way they generally tried to support each other and weren’t as backstabby towards each other as the boys can be.

Overall hugely disappointed with the “businesses” this year. Katharine, Stephanie and Brittany didn’t even have an actual business yet. At least Harpreet does, but also not fair that there’s a co-owner.

Personally I think they should stop allowing businesses without a track record. If they want to invent something they should go on Dragon’s Den. Also, these are all such short term ideas, they’ll be out of fashion in five minutes. Steph’s idea will be copied by eBay, Brittany’s by Diageo x Nike or something, Katherine’s could frankly be done by anyone who makes clothes, and Harpreet… any coffee shop or bakery.

None of them are skilled at what they do (although Harpreet can cook), no new or aspirational skills, nothing original. Safe to say his 250k won’t be making him much return this year.

Minesril · 18/03/2022 06:00

DH and DS (2) have matching Harry Potter PJs from M&S. They're adorable. I know someone who buys family PJs every Christmas...from Tesco. I like Kathryn, I'm just not sure what her USP is. Apart from the dog PJs. The person I know would definitely buy those, at present her dog has different outfits to the rest of them at Christmas Grin

billysboy · 18/03/2022 06:12

Loved the series and how it brings the very best and worst out on commentators and contestants alike

Harpreet will win is my prediction

The interviews are always great

Maybe they could put the final two in front of Dragons den to test out their ideas

Appolonia · 18/03/2022 07:16

If I were going on national TV to have my business plan scrutinized, I'd hire someone to review my plan first!
At least to make sure it had key components, such as the financials.

I don't know how their plans are so bad. Even if they googled a sample business plan, they'd get an idea of what should be included.

Still love the show, but this year's contestants have been poor.

That's what always puzzles me. They know they're going to have everything raked over. It always seems so amateurish.

Honestly I think they’re probably more interested in getting IG followers than starting a serious business, with the exception perhaps of Harpreet. None of the others have serious plans at all.

Maireas · 18/03/2022 07:23

I wondered that as well, @SonicBroom. Self marketing.

bonfireheart · 18/03/2022 07:28

I don't think anyone with a proper business idea would go on this show.

SonicBroom · 18/03/2022 07:30

Stephanie tried hard, she was a good candidate with a good effort that she’d put a lot of work into but again it just wasn’t tested or practical.

malificent7 · 18/03/2022 07:33

I think the second hand baby clothes and protein booze ideas were best but Harpreet and Katherine were the best people to work for siralan.
I think Harpreet might win.

LaMarschallin · 18/03/2022 07:38

Exactly.
And they are amazed (and severely pissed off, going by their facial expressions) to be told they're lying when they're...well, you know: lying!

Maireas · 18/03/2022 07:43

Stephanie has a BA (Hons) 1st class in Events Management!

Juno22 · 18/03/2022 07:59

I don't understand the USP of Harpreet's business. Where I live those dessert parlours are everywhere. I don't see how she'd be able to grow her business much. And as for Katherine, if I want matching pyjamas made in China for the family I'll go to Primark. And if they haven't got them they will have soon.

Neither of these businesses are worth investing in. They'd be laughed out of Dragon's Den.

Pebbledashery · 18/03/2022 09:00

I still can't get over how awful the final 4 were and how totally unlikeable the final 2 are.

@bonfireheart

I don't think anyone with a proper business idea would go on this show.
Harpreet's business has been running successfully for about five years. Lots of candidates have had successful businesses.
