Crime documentary recommendations please? (UK made)

Hello!

Please can someone recommend some crime documentaries to me. I prefer UK productions as I find US ones too choreographed/movie like. But if there are any extremely gripping US based ones, I'm open to watching them too!

Thank you

I had been trawling the threads a while looking for recommendations and had those saved on my watch list

Unbelievable.

Not UK , and not a documentary , but it is a serialised dramatisation of a real story , Toni Collette is amazing in it. I think it is still available on Netflix.

I Sniper which is on All4

Women who Kill also on All4

Occasionally some good ones on the iPlayer but don’t know if they’re still there. There was a series about Forensics where you see how the crimes are solved, very gritty and well worth a look.

Don’t fcuk with cats on Netflix is probably the best thing I’ve seen. It’s American/Canadian

clpsmum · 24/02/2022 12:22

Women behind bars

The puppet master

The tindler swindler

Very bad men

DreamsofCheese · 24/02/2022 12:27

I’m sorry you said documentaries!! None of my suggestions are docs 🤦‍♀️

waterlego · 24/02/2022 12:27

I haven’t watched it yet but next on my list is ‘Into the Deep’ which I think is on Netflix. It’s about Peter Madsen who murdered journalist Kim Wall on his submarine. I think the filmmaker is actually Danish and I would guess many/most of the contributors are from Scandinavian countries as Madsen is Danish and his victim was Swedish. It is a terrible and fascinating story and I’ve heard very good reviews of the film.

We like 24 Hours in Police Custody.

Anjelika · 24/02/2022 12:37

Into the Deep was very well done I think. Would def recommend.

I've watched a few true life crime dramas - Into the Deep is one of these - rather than documentaries and would recommend the Bambers one, Des, Appropriate Adult, The Serpent and Manhunt.

waterlego · 24/02/2022 12:53

@Anjelika, I didn’t realise it was done as a drama rather than a doc. I like that genre, will definitely have a look. I think I’ve seen some of the others you recommended. The recent ‘Four Lives’ series on BBC about Stephen Port was done as a drama and was quite well done, I thought. Stephen Marchant gave a suitably creepy performance as Port.

Oh yes. The Real Manhunt on itv was excellent
