she's not been in a film for four years, apparently... and this merits screen time on our NATIONAL news programme on the BBC. give me strength!

oh, but we did get to see her in a bikini. [we're at war, you know]

Now Aitch , you know as well as I do that this is important news . It's jsut the same scanario as Old rusty golden balls being dropped from the England team, or Kylie Minute getting a damehood!

Aitch · 02/01/2008 18:33

but at least there was some news element to those stories... something had happened. i'm not kidding, it was an interview about her latest film ON THE ACTUAL NEWS.

It's because the World is Shut until tomorrow and there's no other news. At least dd1 and I had a good bitchfest over it.

yeah, women and children being burned to death in Kenya, Pakistan imploding, that pesky war thing and the Royal Marsden's on fire... nuttin' there worth bumping for Julia Roberts saying a tubby short-haired brunette BBC journo that she looked like Kate WInslet.

in the sense that she was filmed under gauze, yes.

wouldnt have thought there was enought time on the news to adequately cover whats happening in kenya tbh

Aitch · 02/01/2008 18:44

[throws shoes at television]

ahundredtimes · 02/01/2008 18:55

[collects shoes and puts them on again]

I didn't see it actually, was just a grrr news thread, so had to throw shoes.

slalomsuki · 02/01/2008 18:57

I thought this at lunch time when she was on the 1 o'clock news. But she looked old in her film though

Aitch · 02/01/2008 19:05

she was on the 1 o clock news AS WELL? and they returned to it at dinner time? am amazed. 100x, no doubt it'll be on later as well, cos there's nothing else happening in the world.

Well on this mornings BBC1 news there was a feature on a woman whos son had put out a frying pan fire in her kitchen with a pair of her size 20 knickers. She held them up on national TV.

I kid you not

ahundredtimes · 02/01/2008 19:07

[undoes shoe strap, waits]

Whizzz · 02/01/2008 19:08

and Julia Roberts was on in the morning too

I heard that knickers story. What kind of a self-publicist allows that story to reach the national press? And what kind of media broadcasts it under the guise of news?

Ditto Julia Roberts. There's always, you know, Kenya, Pakistan, stabbed teenagers, Iraq, burning hospitals...

I always think this about the kind of news story that goes "it's 5 days until Christmas, the shops are busy. Now over to our reporter in the high street. John?"
"Ermmmmm.....yess.......I'm outside HMV"

Knicker woman lives near me - what a claim to fame! I heard an interview with her (I know, I know) and she was saying in between all the 'real' news that was happening, it was nice that her knickers were providing some light relief to the nation

Whizzz · 02/01/2008 22:40

But she held up her grey large pants on national TV you wouldn't, would you ??

StealthPolarBear · 02/01/2008 22:43

did she really? urgh no, though i suppose if she dug out her best thong no-one would believe it put out the flames!
