What can I watch with my 13 year old?

I like to watch something with Dd, doesn't have to totally engage me but I don't want to watch hours of random TikTok shit. Over recent years we have watched Merlin, Dr Who, Ghosts, Stranger Things and some of Death in Paradise. Dd doesn't want to watch any reality shows. I'm feeling a bit uninspired and also overwhelmed. Can anyone help me find some interesting viewing?

Just remembered I have another wish, not too much sex! I think she'd love BattleStar Galactica but I seem to remember it has a lot of scenes that might be uncomfortable to watch together, or am I misremembering?

Thank you for any help!

My teens love Taskmaster, twelve seasons on All4

Petalpup · 06/02/2022 20:47

We’ve watched the apprentice and glow up together recently and both enjoyed those.

Petalpup · 06/02/2022 20:48

Ah -sorry-just seen she doesn’t want reality shows. I’m not sure if these count

How about a medical drama, something like The Resident or Chicago Med?
Also loving The Gilded Age

RampantIvy · 06/02/2022 20:48

Anne with an E if it is still on Netflix.

My teen really enjoyed the Alex Rider series (it wasn't too awful for adults either and has a very catchy theme tune 😊)

I was going to recommend Alex Rider series too. First is on E4, second series on Prime.

The Goldbergs
Shakespeare and Hathaway
Monarch of the Glen - older series but was very popular at the time
House of Elliott - ditto for Monarch

Race Across the World - I know you said not reality shows but this was very good - teams of two travelling across countries. It not a ‘Only way is Essex’ type of reality show, but more of a travel show with contestants. It was very good and the teams were likeable, ordinary people, rather than wannabe celebs.

My preteens/teens enjoyed watching the unlisted on Netflix, about teens who have to fight a powerful government taking over childrens minds.

Maze runner was a hit too.

My 12 year old likes Friends/Modern Family/Big Bang Theory, and all the kids are very into Young Sheldon right now.

I watch a lot of tv with my 12.5 year old. We have really loved Young Sheldon, Anne with an E, Taskmaster and Jane the Virgin.

MrsTophamHat · 06/02/2022 21:44

@Riverlee i LOVE race across the world. I binged it during stop start labour with my daughter Grin

postitnot · 06/02/2022 21:52

Around the world in 80 days on iplayer

Straysocks · 06/02/2022 22:11

We watched the Sherlock version with Johnny Lee Miller & Lucy Liu.

savehannah · 06/02/2022 22:14

My teen loved ER, we worked our way right through from the good old Clooney and Edwards days to the end (it's all on all4)

Currently watching the Handmaid's tale but she is nearly 16 now maybe not for a 13 year old.
