Yeah I'm not too sure what the Gareth plot was.
Was he running from dodgy coppers or not, how did he turn into the bad guy? Who knows - at least it's over now.

He said something about someone protecting him and did he say something about convincing a jury not to convict the protectors and that’s why?

Freya fell out of love with him pretty quick! I felt like we saw the Robinson in David. What would you guys do in that situation?

Yes, the Gareth story was far too convoluted. And I'm finding Freya rather annoying now. Levi deserves someone nicer.

Yep, they totally fluffed getting Gareth’s storyline out there.

I think he was witness in a case but bribed by the people he was going to get convicted to not say anything, the police got wind of it and now the people he was going to protect in court are protecting him.

The plot holes are huge!
Why he then had to come after Levi and Co for finding him is beyond me, he could have just re disappeared. If the police were investigating him as per the above then when Levi and Freya went to the police to report the corrupt police officers then the above would have come to light.

I missed how he knew where they were too

I assume he followed Ned and Harlow back to Ramsey street.

But then that was another day which made no sense time wise. Nicolette and others where packing up the van getting ready to leave and asking where Ned and Harlow were, they were wherever Gareth was, then came back, we’re told to hurry up as they wanted to leave soon, but there was still enough time for Levi to talk to them drive to where Gareth was, have a look around and drive back again before they left for the trip!

Or was it a photo on social media despite there being no signal at the place!

Gareth saw that photo of the group in front of the River Bend sign.
He came to find them as the people he was protecting thought that levi would continue to ask questions and wanted him dealt with.

It maybe wasn’t a long time to struggle with his conscious as Gareth died. I found the line here won’t survive those injuries’ and the look most chilling. It was a great scene and yeah Freya pretty much egging him on.

Apparently in his capacity as court clerk he was passing jury notes to the criminal gang's defence team so they'd know what the jury were thinking. This led, implausibly, to them being acquitted. But someone at the courthouse got suspicious and Gareth went in the run, allegedly under the "protection" of the gang, who ordered him to "take care" of Levi as he was asking too many questions.

Why did Freya want to find him anyway if he was such a nut case?

He was a liar, apparently he told her he was on the run from corrupt cops.

I think her story was legit. They were in a relationship, true love and all that but she didn't know he was crook so he lied when he got in trouble and said it was the Police who were dodgy so he had to go into protection to get away from her / save himself

Yes that scene was great. But dark.

I need a timeline. As Ned and Harlow seem to be only having their first night in the wilderness, are we meant to believe that all the following happened in the same day?:

Freya and Levi arguing
Breakfast
Gareth shooting Levi
Ned and Harlow going hiking
Aaron mooching
Ned and Harlow returning after hearing a gunshot
Gareth taking Freya
David and Amy deciding to go
Driving
Puncture
Aaron beat up
Driving and passing Amy and David
Amy and David finding Aaron - ambulance an hour away
Levi catching up and car crash
Amy and David driving with bandaged Aaron stopping to not help Gareth
Ambulance takes Aaron to hospital and then assesses him for a fractured skull, broken ribs etc
Aaron transferred to Erinsborough
Everyone else goes back to Erinsborough
Aaron wakes up and has a seizure
Aaron has a blood clot on his brain and has surgery
