Unfortunately Channel 5 have form for dropping series half way through and refusing to account for their decision - remember Once Upon a Time and one of the NCIS series. Their lack of accountability is shocking.

I would hope they would end on a positive “and life on Ramsey street just goes on” note possibly with a cricket match in the street and a wedding in the last week. And then the Kennedy’s looking on wistfully at the street from their archway as an end shot.

A like Downton, tying up loose ends.

If it’s really happening i would love to see some old faces back for the ending. Imagine seeing Scott and Charlene back on the street

Re Home and Away, the funding structure is apparently v v different, Neighbours costs them a fortune.

Agree re ending, tie up loose ends but ultimately the last episode just be normal life on the street. A big bbq or wedding etc.

I'm up for old cast members if it's less clumsy than recently with Des etc.

Oooj Toadies Wedding!!! They could end it on that. He can have a dream a few night before with Sonia where she gives him her blessing.

Paul falls into slump post Therese and Scott and Charlene fly in to see him.

Karl has a health scare and Billy, Mal and Libby and kids all rally round. They both decide to retire.

I don’t want Toadie to marry Melanie! He can marry Dee or, even better, Amy.

Who makes home and away?
And how is the funding structure different

Something to do with a lifetime rights for X vs rolling rights for XXX. So I don't think there's constant investment in home and away, must get most money elsewhere

Can they change funding?

I’ve gone straight into denial!

Me too, @Rummikub. This cannot be so, therefore it will not be so.

I wonder if this is why channel 5 have decoupled neighbours from home and away in the schedule?

Home and away has a lot more viewers in Australia therefore it gets more funding out there, where as Neighbours is basically only still going because of how popular it in in the U.K.

I do think Brit box should really look at it, I’m sure they are. They are one of the less popular subscriptions and with the bbc potential having to go to subscription too rather than free iPlayer, it might be a the pill they need to get their numbers up if it was exclusively there.

Oh no, hopefully it won't disappear behind a paywall somewhere. Also I like the suggestions for ending it with a street game of cricket!

Ah I'm sad about the news. I keep my Neighbours watching very quiet, it's a little embarrassing. Paul has been a constant in my life (how old is he now? He's aged very well).

If I'm being honest, I do find the annoying characters quite wearing when it takes months for them to be exposed. Amy's daughter being an example, the old Nicolette etc. But the humour is good, it's always sunny, everyone seems to be good-looking, what's not to like....

Yeah I'm imagining a filming drive pulling away into th sky as they continue playing, shrieks and laughter getting quieter before the theme tune starts.

I'm also dealing with Holby ending

I'm wondering if this is why we have been having all the cringe worthy "sex" scenes recently? I have noticed previously that viagra/numan have been having advertising space during Neighbours for a while now? Have they requested it, if this is now predominantly for the UK viewers?

I can’t believe we’re discussing possible final scenes for neighbours. I thought it would go on forever after all this time Sad
