For next week /

OP posts:
Porfre · 04/03/2022 14:42

Also I think Akshay came across really well on You're Fired.

@DrSbaitso

If they were going to get a drag queen contestant from another show on as a treat, seems weird they didn't do it earlier when there were more contestants and would have been a bigger audience.
Yes I agree, very peculiar way to do it with only 4 of them, I thought there was a whole other audience there at first not just literally them - very awkward!
DrSbaitso · 04/03/2022 16:10

I'm starting to wonder if the planned treat fell through for some reason so they had to get in whatever they could at the last minute at no cost? Still, you'd think the budget could stretch to dinner for four in an upmarket London eaterie.

DrSbaitso · 04/03/2022 16:11

Then again, Brittany was obviously a fan so maybe they did it for her.

nevergoesaway · 04/03/2022 21:25

Yep I wondered if it was a last minute thing and it was all they could get!!

And I noticed how much of a fan Brittany was, maybe they just found out what kinds of things the contestants are into and did this one tailored to her or something?! It was all very bizarre wasn’t it!

He did. He was very pleasant and courteous. Not as arrogant as I expected. Also in the taxi, none of the usual "Sugar's made a mistake, I'm going to me a multimillionaire" baloney.

Maireas · 05/03/2022 10:45

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

Karen looking fabulous as always on You're Fired

That’ll be the snail cream. and the massager

😂😂😂
Remember, it's very friendly snail cream.

Maireas · 05/03/2022 10:47

I agree with pp about Stephanie, I thought she was weak and lacked initiative throughout. At least Akshay had a bit of drive. Mind you, I've not forgiven Stephanie for the "Artic" offenses against spelling, geography and commonsense.

Sweetandsaltycaroline · 05/03/2022 13:21

I'm sure that wasn't her! Wasn't it Sophie and Francesca?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 05/03/2022 13:27

That version might be fine for you my dear friend.

I fear I need the harsh but fair version 😉

Was it? Sorry, if I've blamed the wrong person! In my defence, a few of these women looked very similar 😉

😂😂
I'm just imagining all these Chilean farmers with smooth hands......
I quite fancied that mad owl thing, only because Aaron was pushing it like his life depended on it.

Maireas · 05/03/2022 13:34

I thought Brittany was a bit hyper. She certainly enjoyed the drag act. I was wondering if she was trying to compete with Harpreet.

Over what?
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 05/03/2022 13:38

The dog would have the mad owl in a fight maireas

And quite possibly Aaron too. 🥴

But Akeem would be taken to its beddy. For safe keeping.

Of that there is no doubt.

He’d be fine. My phone, purse and three pairs of socks are there.

Maireas · 05/03/2022 13:41

Strong personality, DrS

Maireas · 05/03/2022 13:42

@DrSbaitso

I really like Kathryn. Not even sure why but I really like her. I find her very sincere and she's got a brilliant smile.

I like her too - I think she's bright and quite capable. I don't think she's playing a game, she owned up to mistakes.

Maireas · 05/03/2022 13:46

Akeem needs you in his life, Sheldon. You need to prep him for the interview episode (should he make it that far!)

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 05/03/2022 14:12

Lovely Linda is going to do to Akeem what the dog would do to the mad owl.

He needs a bouncer. I’ll volunteer. 😉

Maireas · 05/03/2022 14:13

I can think of no-one better!

Me too. She seems bright, positive and looks great.
Exhausteddog · 05/03/2022 14:45

Does anyone else remember (or have I imagined it?) that Nick/Margaret/Claude/Karen (admittedly very occassionally) used to praise or applaud something positive they saw one of the candidates do, in their piece to camera when they are shadowing them. I can't remember the last time either of them said anything remotely positive about anyone.

I think that's the bit I dislike that it feels like they're more set up for failure now than previously. (Possibly helped by having a different criteria for choosing contestants - although obviously it also depends on who applies)

By splitting teams (one half of the team doesn't know what the other half is doing, one team create a logo for something they've never seen, or don't know anything about)
By making the tasks overly complicated with too many aspects that can't be completed properly within the timescale.
In the past of course there were disasters but I'm sure they created some more saleable products and I remember the cereal ads being quite good.

DrSbaitso · 05/03/2022 15:00

Karren and Tim (or whoever is in those roles) are there for comic effect. They're a form of exposition, to highlight the funny stuff that's going on as dispassionate observers. If they were actually doing the tasks, they'd fuck up too, but I think they're smart enough to realise that. They've got roles to play and they do it.

The tasks are clearly set up to fail through the lack of communication and so on but again, that's obvious. It's not a serious show about business acumen. It's just good TV. Just a business-themed game show.

DrSbaitso · 05/03/2022 15:02

I think you see more of the real Karren in You're Fired. She's a bit softer and more self-deprecating (loved her crack about her hair the other night). She's not being fake exactly on the show, but she's performing.
