Oh shit. I missed it!
What happened?

saltirehangingonachristmastree · 29/12/2007 19:34

Oh it was great

They went to the Holy Land to save the King, then got tied up in the desert. then The King and Robin's gang went after the Sheriff and Guy and then the King got shot then Guy killed Marian with a bloody big sword!
Then Will decides to stay there with whateserface, Djaq! and not go back to England.

We really enjoyed it
Both ds1 and I can't stand Marian - lying two-faced little tart!
Well done Gisborne I said.
"Hurry up and die" said ds1

ginnedupudding · 29/12/2007 19:40

Wish I'd seen it. I'll keep an eye out for the repeats.
I love Guy of Gisborne. He's so so gorgeous!

Chamomile · 29/12/2007 19:42

Were there any warnings it was going to be so violent? We forgot it was on early so switched on at 7pm. Ds1 turned white as a sheet at Marion's death and I'll probably have him up with nightmares tonight.

roisin · 29/12/2007 19:45

How old is he Chamomile?

Chamomile · 29/12/2007 19:54

He's 8 and prone to bad dreams. He was looking forward to the episode when Robin marries Marion I haven't been following it very closely so it's my fault for not seeing where it was heading, I suppose.

FooFooTheSnoo · 29/12/2007 19:56

Both my children crying at the end.

yaddayule · 29/12/2007 19:57

Ds (5) wondered why she wasn't shouting with a big sword stuck in her!

DumbledoreWithBoughsOfHolly · 29/12/2007 19:59

Wasn't it a shock? I was quite sad really and ds2 was crying too! I just thought Poor Robin, but then I am the lone Robin fan on this site!

DumbledoreWithBoughsOfHolly · 29/12/2007 20:01

And did I hear right at the end? Did they say there would be another series next year? Surely not! I was indifferent towards the character of Marian, but surely she is integral to the plot?

pinkspottywellies · 29/12/2007 21:33

We missed it but we've just watched it on the new bbci thing. Go to the bbc homepage and you can watch programmes for a week after they've been on!

DITDOT · 29/12/2007 21:51

My DD (5) Wanted to know where was the blood? Someone gets stabbed on holby and there is a swimming pool amount. Marion. NONE!!!!

JackieNo · 29/12/2007 21:55

We were a bit at Marion's death too. I read on the Radio Times preview of it that one of them would die, but I was hoping it would be Mutch (Much?), as he gets on my nerves. Bet they bring in some other love interest eventually for Robin, even if he fights against it at first.

pipsqueak · 29/12/2007 21:55

dd2 aged 6 loves this but very upset about marion - hadnt realised this was the story line or would ahve avoided . anyway we ahve told her that this was all a trick and that marion is fine and robin made it look like she was dead so that marion can carry on being a spy in hte castle - dd2 was very happy about this arrangement and will have forgotten all about it by teh time the next series is on i hope

saltirehangingonachristmastree · 29/12/2007 22:09

Poor Guy, he was driven to it by that hussy.
DG - you are the only Hairy Hobbit fan on the site!

Oh I like Much too. I must go for all the odd men!

I think the way it was done was particularly cruel in that they had the weepy moment when they exchanged vows when they were tied up in the desert and then they get rescued and you think they are going to be all right after that. To make them and us go through it all over again when she was dying was a bit tough.

Scramble · 29/12/2007 23:56

Marion had it coming using her lovely locks and boobs to make things happen. So much for the nightwatchmen just flutter you eyes and it sahll be done. Was a shock though, thought jack would save her,

ernest · 30/12/2007 07:14

aside from the Marion shocker I thought it was a bloody crap episode. All that tosh about who do you love. Honestly. No one talks like that. It didn't half drag on. I though G acted out the 'running 'er through' really well tho, I'll give him that. You could feel his overwhelming rush of jealousy and shock himself at what he'd actually done.

But then they all just stood around gawping at M and let the Sherrif and G just run away. No. a big thumbs down from me. It was over long and my kids were restless and fidgety and my dh was scathing the whole was through. 4/10

Amazed they're bringing it back. Not just cos of Marion, but now the King knows who's the baddies, he's going to get home asap, etc etc. Seems like a lot of the essential plot factors will be missing.

DumbledoreWithBoughsOfHolly · 30/12/2007 10:14

But that is typical of the BBC. They are forever flogging a good idea to death. I have enjoyed the 2 series, but I think the second one was weaker than the first. Now is the time to stop, while they have still made a decent programme.

singyswife · 30/12/2007 10:19

DumbledoreWithBoughsOfHolly You are not the only Robin fan...he is soooo gorgeous. I was sad for him too.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 30/12/2007 10:24

ernest - agree entirely. DS2 who is normally glued to it got bored and went off playing with toys in another room. Guy's acting terrfic as usual - he's like a Shakesperean actor who's wandered on to the wrong set and found himself in a pantomime. Did anyone hear him reading Ted Hughes' letters on R4 last month? Does anyone know anything else he's been in? (Stalker - moi? )
And Marian's death - presumed they toned down the gory-ness for the kids - but I assumed there would be no more series after that. Delighted there will be more - don't want to have to change my MN name yet again

wessexgirl · 30/12/2007 13:31

MrsGuyofGisbourne - get hold of the North and South DVD. Swoooooooooooooon.

I agree Richard Armitage is too good for this nonsense really; I'm surprised he'd bother with a third series.

UnquietDad · 30/12/2007 13:49

My DD was more upset about Will leaving... (because she has worked out this year that he is Harry Lloyd from "Doctor Who" as well)... let;'s be honest, though, he never had an awful lot to do in "Robin Hood", did he?!

And, look... I hate to be all pedantic and realist about it, but... HOW bloomin' long would it have taken to travel across Europe to the Holy Land by land and water? MONTHS, I expect! There's a whole "Robin Hood: The Seafaring Adventures" series missing there!
