UnquietDad - we said exactly the same about the journey - DH reckoned 6 weeks at least to do the travelling. I reckon more like 8 - 10 weeks.

UnquietDad · 30/12/2007 14:19

And they'd all have been suffering from scurvy and madly bearded by the time they got there. Probably.

roisin · 30/12/2007 14:20

Mrs GofG - I have a whole Richard Armitage selection. He was in last year's Vicar of Dibley Christmas special. He was also in the BBC Shakespeare modern versions series (I can't remember what the proper title was.)

But the biggest thing of all is North and South - my most-watched-DVD ever. He really shows off his talents there.

I'm also surprised that he's doing another series of Robin Hood! Maybe he really does have a leather fetish that he's enjoying indulging!

nannyj · 30/12/2007 14:44

RA is also in George Gengtly on 3rd Jan BBC1 in the eve not sure what time though can't get to my tv to check. Definately get North and South he tramples over Mr Darcy and i never thought i would say those words. Also look him up on youtube you can see loads of clips of interviews and him reading a kids story on cbeebies . Plus imdb.com. I could go on but fear i'll have a restraining order put on me..........

DumbledoreWithBoughsOfHolly · 30/12/2007 15:22

at the missed out sea journey. I was more amused by Alan's mercy dash from Portsmouth to Sherwood Forest in one night (and presumably the Sheriff and Gisbourne did the journey in one day too.

Portsmouth to Nottinghamshire would have taken at least 3 days on horseback in those days!

JackieNo · 30/12/2007 15:34

Yes - good point DG. Hadn't really clocked that one.

saltirehangingonachristmastree · 30/12/2007 15:49

We too commented on the fact it took Alan such a short time to get from Portsmouth to Nottingham.
Richard Armitage also read the Robin Hood series on audio CD - I got one for DS2 and of course had to listen to it to make sure it worked ok.

Oooh Saltire, tell me more. Who wrote it? What is it like? I am asking as all my children now have their own CD players and I am on the look out for new CDs that would interest them.

DumbledoreWithBoughsOfHolly · 30/12/2007 18:17

Is this what you meant?

myrrhthamoo · 30/12/2007 18:23

It was a very talky one - ds2 was pretty bored. It's funny, because last time she died he was really upset but he wasn't at all bothered this time (perhaps because he is a world weary 6 rather than an innocent 5 these days). I thought that about the journey to the Holy Land - blimey, you can't get there that fast on a plane.

I'm kind of glad she's gone too - mainly because of the outfits which got more and more outlandish every week. Plus I really can't be doing with all the moony lovey dovey stuff between her and Robin "why do I have a comb-over when I'm not bald?" Hood.

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 30/12/2007 18:23

I was fuming! Felt it totally out of order to break little girl's hearts like that - boys too I'm sure but we don't have any in this house - well we have dh but he was strangely unmoved. I was so cross I e-mailed the Radio Times - with a masterpiece of invective if I say so myself - that'll learn 'em

lucy5 · 30/12/2007 18:25

My dd sobbed uncontrollably for about an hour.

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 30/12/2007 18:28

Lucy - write to the Radio Times - make them feel our pain!!!

LittleBellasRingingOutTheOld · 30/12/2007 18:44

One thing I did quite like about Marian, was that she wasn't a waifish, half starved thing. She's very pretty with a good hefty figure (not fat, just normal). I bet you they're going to bring in a waif as his new love interest and I'll be annoyed.

They're well down though aren't they on outlaws - they must have a few more gorgeous ones lined up.

Here's betting they pick up another Saracen on the way home and thye have to get another couple of women as well.

DumbledoreWithBoughsOfHolly · 30/12/2007 18:47

Maybe Friar Tuck will make an appearance?

JackieNo · 30/12/2007 18:47

Maybe they'll finally bring in Friar Tuck.

JackieNo · 30/12/2007 18:48

Snap, DG.

LittleBellasRingingOutTheOld · 30/12/2007 18:51

No, they'll have an imam.

I loved the way Jack spoke English to Bassim.

I suppose they couldn't do subtitles in case the children were too young to read them well.

DumbledoreWithBoughsOfHolly · 30/12/2007 18:57

Can anyone recap the plot of the last episode for me so I understand why there is to be a third series? I thought Richard agreed with Robin that he had deserted his own people too long and that he was needed back in England? How then did he come to the conclusion that Robin would be able to continue to be his representative while the king stayed in the Holy Land?

I missed that bit.

JackieNo · 30/12/2007 18:57

Wasn't it because Richard needed to stay there a bit longer to make peace (or win), so couldn't just up and leave?

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 30/12/2007 19:44

wessexgirl, roisin, nanny j - thanks - on my way to Amazon right now!

Fubsyinapeartree · 30/12/2007 19:57

OMG - just as well DD wasnrt watching. Shes lost interest a bit this series, and we havent really been following it.

nannyj · 30/12/2007 22:17

Last episode of Vicar of Dibley with RA on the 9th Jan. Yum

Stepfordsroastingonanopenfire · 30/12/2007 22:36

I agree with Dumbledore's girl about the gorgeous JA, also that Marion's death ws a bit out of order. I never liked her much but am amazed that they killed her off. So, who's going to be the love interest now? [Me! Me! Over here!] I was upset all evening, (made worse by FIL laughing at me, the bastard).

cornsilk · 30/12/2007 22:46

She was wearing a spotless white dress and there was no sign of blood. She was also able to pull the sword out of her own body before she died. It's a trick. Jack will come up with some kind of potion to sort her out.
