I know, technically aimed at young adults but has anyone watched yet?

It's not a scene I recognise from living in the UK and suspect it's extremes of stereotypes in the US but the first episode was very...punchy.

I loved it, somehow it felt like the show had definitely grown.

Loved it! Had to do a season 1 recap as I'd forgotten a lot of what happened. Makes me feel very old. Such a messy party

It is my favourite programme. And it shouldn't be because I am a mother of 2 teenage girls. But I love it.

Definitely not aimed at my age but the cinematography is just great, imo.

I also bloody loved that last scene, I was trying to explain my joy to my DH who has never watched it.

I did feel really sad for little Fezco and Ash

Anyway, love this show.

Isn't it weird how they're all young and beautiful at a party and couldn't be more miserable!

Yup I watched it, the storytelling, cinematography and soundtrack is excellent. I love this TV show.

The party reminded me of parties I went to as a teenager. The only thing that has changed are the drugs teens are taking and there was definitely more sex happening in the bedrooms. I can't believe how normal I thought this environment was? Looking back through the eyes of my now 40+ year old self I'm clutching my pearls and I'm horrified.

Absolutely love it but only half way through season one so won’t check back here in case of spoilers. The cast are just so talented! I even love “Nate” 😱

Nate is fascinating as hell and is very easy on the eye 😒. I'm old enough to be his mother but I don't really care.

I’m a bit confused about shows like this. I thought the current crop of teens are drinking less, doing fewer drugs and having less sex than previous generations with helicopter parents. Are these shows created for them to relate to or to confirm to those holed up in their rooms that it’s best to stay there?

It's taken me a while to watch the next few episodes. I've finished episode 3 so a few small spoilers ahead...

First isn't a massive spoiler as such but is anyone else so bloody anxious about Rue with that suitcase?!

Secondly, why did Nate go to Maddy's and stand up Cassie? I took it that he sees Cassie as a vice, his dirty secret like his father has had then being a relationship with Maddy embodies a persona he wants everyone to see publicly. Otherwise, is it just about the recording alone?

What did you make of it?

I missed episode 4 but hoping to catch up in the next couple of days!

@BFPDec21 Nate is trying to get in M's good books as much as he can so he can get the recording back, I think. Not because he loves his dad (in my opinion), but because he can't stand not being in control of the situation.

Cannot believe how much time I’ve expended on this show! Have seen all that’s available and read far too many reviews. So glad there’s a thread.

It is so hypnotically beautiful. And, to me, as otherworldly as, say, Buffy. Absolutely nothing relates me to my real life, either as a teen in another century or now (obvs). And the soundtrack is immense.

Think I fell asleep last night trying to compare and contrast with Sex Education, which is even more beautiful, and much funnier, but suffers slightly from too many of the ‘teens’ looking about 30 years old.

Is there really, truly a world where American school pupils have enough money to dress like off duty film stars? I get that you tube has made everyone a make-up expert - but the parade of flawless perfection is … puzzling.

But perhaps it’s just me. I didn’t go to parties in my teens, and for the two enforced school discos with the boys’ school that I recall, I think I probably wore a woolly jumper and a knee length tweed skirt.

I actually heard that Fez was cast as his own character - he is not an actor at all, but someone had overheard him speak and thought he was the one 😲. No idea how true this is but I would love it to be 😁.

Fez is a sweet angel.... With a few issues 😬.
He's such a interesting character. I mean they all are - it's a fantastic show but Fez always steals the scene.

Also in the Fez fanclub here, I'd love to see more of him and Lexi as Nate and Cassie are boring me now.

Also I don't buy that Rue would just be given that suitcase so easily that was kind of a bit far fetched for me!

I love Fezco's character, sweet but very complicated. I imagine if he could, he'd have a normal life with normal parents.

I hate Nate and his dad's characters but there was something about Cal's drunken confession and the grenades he left for his family. Completely cowardly how he left but shining a light on their secrets. I wonder if they had a child that died but was the 'golden child', unless I missed something in episode 4?

I've watched episode 5 and I'm left so sad for Rue. It's never going to end up well is it? I have a feeling it'll end with her dying

Just about to watch Ep 5.

I thought I glimpsed 3 children in the photo at Call’s house in Ep 4 - but I didn’t check so could be wrong.

Yes, there were definitely 3 children. But only Nate and his brother are mentioned. I'm not sure what could have possibly happened to one where they looked of an age where surely they'd remember each other? That's why my theory is there was a tragedy and that's why Cal wants family picture to hold on to, although I could be wrong.

I literally held my breath for that whole chase scene and then the creeping out of the house! Rue will be back there looking for her next hit before we know it. I think there's probably a rock bottom to come.....

Where the hell does she live, that neighbourhood with all those pools parties and pets was a total trip 😲. That woman is terrifyingly good - I would leave the western hemisphere if she was on my tail 🥺.

I binged watch this weekend and just wow. So impressed with acting, the little sides stories of now and then, the costuming, the mix of different traumas be everyone is dealing with and how it does those little character histories.

I didn't expect to like it as much as I have. And yes the s2e5 some of the best acting and directing I've seen. So raw and realistic. (Having witnessed a similar outbursts myself irl)
