I like Gugu Mbatha-Raw and lovely Danny from Spooks David Oyelowo and I don't mind a good psychological thriller though it's not my favourite genre.

Is TGB worth four hours of my time?

I watched an episode and couldn't be bothered with continuing. I don't enjoy watching women being manipulated.

BobbyBleu · 23/12/2021 23:34

I really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it.

NumaNumaYay · 23/12/2021 23:49

It's..

Soo....

Very....

Slow.

I've watched 2 eps and it could've been condensed into one.

Lots....

Of....

Meaningful....

Music....

NetballHoop · 23/12/2021 23:51

Well we watched it and enjoyed it. But I don't watch much telly so I may not be the best judge.

Forestdweller11 · 23/12/2021 23:56

Yes.

Geppili · 23/12/2021 23:58

I tried the first episode and found the acting wooden. Gave up.

Asiama · 24/12/2021 00:09

I was totally addicted to it and we watched it all in one go!

Tuttiflutey · 24/12/2021 00:10

I was astonished by how poor the script was. But the sets are very nice. It is like someone has set a thriller in Grand Designs.

Cahu58 · 24/12/2021 00:10

No

PamDenick · 24/12/2021 00:14

Yes couldn't bear the ‘amazing’ house. It just looked like a bad office complex for a PR company or advertising agency or something. Echoey with no ornaments allowed…

Rainallnight · 24/12/2021 00:19

I’m watching it but I feel lukewarm about it. Can’t quite put my finger on it but maybe it’s something about slightly wooden acting and the script isn’t brilliant. I also think the premise is really far fetched. Having said that, it’s watchable!

IntermittentParps · 24/12/2021 13:21

I enjoyed it while I was watching it. I liked the house and Jane’s clothes especially, and felt there was enough tension and intrigue to keep me watching.
There were a few annoying plot holes though.
Watch it if you’d Like to be entertained for a bit and are not feeling too critical.

SilverRingahBells · 24/12/2021 13:28

I'm most of the way into the first episode and I think I'll stick with it - I like looking at the house and I'm not finding it too slow at all. I just wanted to check that it didn't have a hugely disappointing ending that leaves you feeling "FFS! Four hours for that!"

I've watched the first couple of episodes and it's alright.. will finish it. just finished You Don't Know Me (also on the BBC) and that was much more engaging.

Grin you have nailed it
nancybotwinbloom · 25/12/2021 00:05

I really enjoyed the book. The series not as much

Sorry but this is exactly how I felt at the end of it!
JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 25/12/2021 07:44

I watched it at broadcast speed. It was interesting enough for me to want to see it through, but not to binge. I did get to the end go "Oh."

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 25/12/2021 07:54

I watched it all in one go and thought it really lost its way in the third and fourth.
The last two episodes were very soap opera serious plot stylee imo.

It was all a bit obvious ...archetypal baddy, but wait.... (won't say for spoilers) but it's really not hard to see it all coming.

And the ending was very ffs.

So all in all "could do better"

anotherbrewplease · 25/12/2021 08:13

Oh - I thought it was brilliant and really enjoyed the ending.

And I've read the book, and found the TV series to be a lot better!

As for 'You Don't Know Me' - that was quite good to start off with but the ending was STUPID and annoying. And it became more and more unebelievable by the last episode....

I agree. I did watch all 4 episodes, so obviously I liked it enough, but it was a bit lacklustre. All the actors seemed to be 'acting', if you get what I mean, and I found I didn't care that much about any of them. It just didn't draw me in. Thought it would have been better as a 3 parter, as there wasn't enough 'story' for 4 episodes.
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/12/2021 12:57

Is it worth four hours of your life ?
Probably not unless you have four hours where you are really not doing anything at all otherwise .

I had no trouble telling Emma and Jane apart .
I thought ( personally) that the character of Emma (played by Jessica Plummer) was too much like the character of Chantelle Atkins in Eastenders , might be the actress's delivery of lines , the ........pauses .
The ........Babe- I love you ...........so.................so ....................much .

Though last night The Mezzotint was 30 minutes of WTF but at least it was 30 minutes of Rory Kinnear Xmas Wink

SilverRingahBells · 25/12/2021 13:03

Oh I loved the Messotint, but then I love a bit of MR James. Ghost story, Christmas episode of Ghosts and Strictly Christmas Special and that's me sorted.

No. Absolutely not. Watched first two hours then read the rest of the plot on Wikipedia

Newgirls · 25/12/2021 21:46

I loved this. Great cast. Stylish clothes. Great locations and weird enough to hold my attention.
