Strictly - Please keep Anton not Bruno

Light hearted! In the small hope that the BBC monitor MN threads for feedback (maybe not) I hereby issue a plea to keep Anton and his sensible critiques and insider knowledge over the incredibly irritating and OTT Bruno.

Come at me Tonioli fans but I have enjoyed this series SO much more without his leaping and shouting and ridiculous attention seeking. He can stay in America for good as far as I'm concerned.

One thing I would love even more for next year would be if they decided on a marking scheme with quantifiable targets and stuck to it.

Yes, but … It’s dance. And while a ‘technical’ mark scheme might work for professional competitions there’s more to judge here. It would be pointless to bring celebrities - amateurs who excel in selling themselves - and not be able to consider the subjective impression of their dancing. Conveyance of emotion, persuasiveness of narrative, provision of fun and enjoyment on a cold dark Saturday evening … Surely all these things deserve a place in the marking, too?

How about a joint mark comprising 50% for the technical side and 50% for the impression?

I think there is a case for marking 10 for technical and 10 for performance as a way of getting a grip on grade inflation without challenging the "It's the Best Series Ever!" narrative.

That way you could give someone like Judi Love huge marks for performance while sticking to something realistic on the technical.

Yes keep Anton he’s great, but swap Bruno for Craig , and he’s as stiff as a board can’t dance those twirls are wearing thin.
He thinks he’s bigger than the show. Some of his comments to Motsi were quite nasty luckily she handled it very well with , oh Craig we know you are obsessed with me! Good on her but it was unnecessary.

When I went to see if being filmed you could see he thought he was the star of the show, he’s not , so for me its time for him to be replaced.

Definitely keep Anton and bin Bruno. I love Craig - he’s kept the marking vaguely sensible this year. Motsi, I quite like but can’t stand Shirley. It’s time she left and another ex professional dancer (Karen, Flavia, Erin) came on. I really miss Vincent and Flavia actually and wish they’d come back and do some Argentine “how to” lessons.

I’ve liked some of the couples choices, Faye and Gio’s jazz was a highlight and AJ’s was amazing, but I’d like to see more context around what the style of dance is and what we are looking for.

I'd love Flavia as a judge or Karen Harding - think either of those would make a great judge.

Keep Anton and Craig.

I assumed Anton was here to stay?! Didn’t realise Bruno might be coming back.

Anton is so much better. Bruno was incredibly irritating…. Although at least with the plastic screens he wouldn’t be able to obnoxiously man spread himself all over Shirley’s personal space anymore.

I think they just said he isn’t on this year because of the travel restrictions. I don’t think they said one way or another if he’s coming back.

Yes to keeping Anton. Ditch Motsi though, she was ok and quite amusing at first and she’s very nice but she quite literally talks utter bollocks after every single performance nowadays, absolutely useless as a judge.

I had the misfortune of meeting Bruno in my previous job. He was 2hrs late for a pre-booked appointment, expected to be seen ASAP and was incredibly rude when I didn't cancel other people's appointments to accommodate him!

if oti is doing dancing on ice judging now does that mean she won't be doing strictly next year?
anton was an absolute bunny as a judge. SO likeable and really interesting.
craig said he's already been signed up for next year's so unless his head falls off he'll be there i guess.

I couldn't stand Anton as a dancer and really didn't want him to become a judge but he's my favourite judge now. He made me sob when he got all emotional over Rose. I've heard he's not a very nice person though so he must be a very good actor!

I've heard from several people who have come across him in person that he's really nice.
