Why do they always leave the front door open to the flat they share in the earlier series? It’s a flat front door yet it’s often left wide open. It’s bugged me for years Grin
And yes, I know it’s crap telly but it’s the kind of crap telly i like to watch to cheer me up after watching tense/dark stuff before going to sleep Grin

TheChosen perhaps because the flat is overheated Grin Though thinking about it it's not ALWAYS left wide open. My dd's bestie is in the older series, so I watched it. IMO the new series is not much cop. I like Lee Mack most of the time,

Ref. miserable, violent "dramas" I HATE them so I don't watch them!! I wonder why the TV people seem to think that's what we want? (there's enough misery in real life IMO).

TheChosenTwo · 20/12/2021 15:37

Yeah okay so it’s not ALWAYS left open, but often! Who does that?!
Oh I do quite like something a bit bleak (not violent or gory though) but I do have to lighten the mood before I go to sleep.

There are about 10 series aren't there, which one(s) have an open front door?

Maybe to make it easier for the characters to get in and out without someone having to answer the door all the time Grin

TheChosenTwo · 20/12/2021 16:31

It’s the ones when they were flatmates and just shared the flat, I don’t know exactly, I haven’t watched them all. But definitely the first half of the series. Can’t believe there are around 10 series! It’s trash tv Grin
The last 3/4(?) series they married and moved to a house where the door is closed behind them Grin

I think as a pp said it’s just so characters can come in and out easily.

Intrigued who ppeatfruit’s dd’s bestie is now!!

ppeatfruit · 22/12/2021 09:05

It's Katie Wix she was in the first of the flat sharing series. She's certainly not dim as her character is made out to be! She's also the podgy dirty faced country lady ghost in Ghosts. No one would ever know!

ChessieFL · 22/12/2021 12:06

I really like Katy Wix. I thought she was great in Torchwood which is very far from her comedy characters.

I'm going to sound like a Not Going Out super fan but Katy Wix was in loads of the series, she's one of the main characters

Are you sure she's your friend, how do you not know she was in it for years Grin

TheChosenTwo · 22/12/2021 18:53

Oh Dalsy, she was a great addition to the cast. But she had limited reason to stick around after her brother left hence the introduction of the neighbours from upstairs I suppose.

I miss Bobby Ball.

TheChosenTwo · 22/12/2021 18:58

Oh he was brilliant in the episodes I saw, there was one I watched where he had won or bought a boat that he tried to sink for insurance fraud purposes Grin

'Camping' is one of the greatest sitcom episodes ever made, IMHO.

I love Katie Wix. She's brilliant.
ppeatfruit · 23/12/2021 10:11

Sirens She's my adult DDs' best friend not mine, though I know her of course.

ChessieFL · 24/12/2021 17:52

Did anyone watch last night’s special? I thought it was funny!

janicewheeler · 24/12/2021 17:59

@ChessieFL me ! Love not going out !

The character Daisy wasn't in the early series, in fact nor was Lucy. Love NGO, was worried it wouldn't be so good after they got married but it rumbles along quite nicely. My favourite characters are Toby and Anna.

The Tim Vine character was her boyfriend. She was very funny, in it for a few series, even after Tim left.

That was a great one.
Maireas · 24/12/2021 18:41

I like the episode with the rabbit.
Katy Wix is brilliant in that one!
I also liked the more recent one where they plan to go to Normandy for the anniversary of DDay. All sorts of truths emerge!

Well, I knew it was the same actor, I love her! Feel free to tell her. To be fair, she's the only one in the first few series who can actually act.

All those series and they still never got any acting lessons! The wife was fine in The Office years ago, but she's been dreadful in every episode of this!
I've never thought much of Tim Vine.
Lee Mack is OK but not in this, he delivers every line like it's the punchline to some amazing unique joke when in fact it's normally a dad joke you could spot a mile off.

That was a good one, Bobby Ball played Lee's dad so well, good banter!

I love Not going out.

Have also been watching during xmas hols. Watching a few xmas episodes whilst Christmas present wrapping.

Watched the new one from last night this afternoon.

itsgettingwierd · 24/12/2021 19:17

Also have to say camping is one of my favourites.

I also love the one where Lee burns her parents grass!

TheChosenTwo · 24/12/2021 23:35

I haven’t seen a lot of these episodes mentioned but I saw the new panto one; didn’t like it much!
I also felt the actor who plays Lucy is dreadfully wooden and fake but it’s still very easy watching.
Another episode I saw was when they go with the posh friends to a holiday cottage, they were fighting over the nice bedroom, I liked that one too. I’m quite easily pleased really Grin
