Not going out

Why do they always leave the front door open to the flat they share in the earlier series? It’s a flat front door yet it’s often left wide open. It’s bugged me for years
And yes, I know it’s crap telly but it’s the kind of crap telly i like to watch to cheer me up after watching tense/dark stuff before going to sleep

I came to check out this thread because Facebook keeps offering me Not Going Out clips. I often seek out the Graham Norton ones and these are interspersed among them. It looks like a cheesy old-style sitcom and not all that good, and yet something about it is growing on me - I think it seems, I don't know, comforting? I looked it up and, and was amazed to see it's been going since 2006! I wonder if I should give it a proper go.
