If you enjoyed the Harlan Coben adaptations on Netflix of The Stranger, Gone For Good, and The Woods then keep a look out for yet another at the end of December called Stay Close starring Cush Jumbo.

Thanks. There are some others on Netflix too that you haven't mentioned. Can't remember the names offhand, but we did a search and found them.

TheChosenTwo · 20/12/2021 08:31

There was also The Five which I found quite strange but got through it all and one called Safe (I think?) which I didn’t like and didn’t finish.
I loved the stranger though, watched it with my dds.

Purplepalmer · 20/12/2021 09:57

Oooh thank you I loved the Stranger and Safe. I haven’t seen the others you mentioned and have been looking for something new to watch along those lines, so I’ll be giving them a go!

unluckyinlife · 20/12/2021 10:03

Are these all still on netflix? I've only seen safe but I have read the few of his books and would be interested to watch these.

If I search Harlen Coben will these come up? or do I need to put in the name of each one? I'm awful at searching on netflix. I've resigned myself to never finding anything to watch if I'm honest

TheChosenTwo · 20/12/2021 10:05

I know some of them have been taken off because I told dd2 about one of them and then neither of us could find it.
It’s so annoying when they take things off there!

NameChangeCity123 · 20/12/2021 10:16

Did not know this- thank you!

madisonbridges · 20/12/2021 10:17

Harlan Coben is my favourite author. He keeps you guessing til the last page.

middleager · 20/12/2021 10:19

Just thought of another - The Innocent, which we really enjoyed!

theemmadilemma · 20/12/2021 10:41

I've enjoyed these! Love his books.

squashyhat · 20/12/2021 10:43

I love Cush Jumbo. As much for her fantastic name as her acting. Although it's odd to see her in the trailer with hair....

ExcaliburBaby · 21/12/2021 02:26

The Five is from a few years ago before all the Netflix ones started - we watched it on Sky boxsets a couple of months ago.

Mooserp · 30/12/2021 12:04

I'm looking forward to this, I've enjoyed the others although they are usually full of nonsense I find them very watchable.

I searched Harlan Coben on Netflix and several shows turned up, but also many that are not based on his work.

I won’t bother to list them here as Canadian Netflix has different things to UK Netflix.

This sums them up perfectly!
MaryAndHerNet · 31/12/2021 16:45

I've been watching this today. On episode 6.
What utter bollocks.

Eddie izzard is in it.. It's got quite a few American style thing son it, as though they haven't changed it quite enough from the American setting of the book. US style strip club, tazers, chloroform. Etc

It gets very silly... there's a bit of a dance number at the start of one episode and 2 of the characters are just ridiculous and completely improbable.. it's far more stupid and silly than The Stranger or Safe, shame, I enjoyed those episodes.

ChequerBoard · 31/12/2021 16:54

Oh not keen if Izzard is in it. I used to like his early standup back in the day but he's really not a good actor.

He's been awful in every film I have seen him in, no idea why he keeps being cast!

MaryAndHerNet · 31/12/2021 17:04

Eddie goes by she these days, she is playing a he in this program tho.

Not really wanting to get embroiled into the gender issue - I was commenting on the acting ability or lack or it!

I'm on episode 4 and quite enjoying it, though it's a bit mad. I recognise nearly everyone in it, Richard Armitage looks a bit rough in it, though that is probably the part he is playing.

WhoWants2Know · 31/12/2021 18:29

We just started watching it, but I keep being distracted by Nesbitt's eyebrows. Wtf?

MaryAndHerNet · 31/12/2021 18:46

I'm on the last episode, 30 minutes in and I'm still clueless.
At this point in shows it'll either be:
Person A - and then explained how they did it, why and you'll go "of course, why didn't I see it coming?"
Or
Person Z and they'll explain how and why a d you'll go, "wtf? As if it could have been them, that makes no sense at all.."

Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to start this tonight! Also loved The Stranger and Safe.
