I like other things too but I’m fancying this kind of cosy watching. What else would you recommend?
Stuck at home and feeling miserable. Have Netflix, Prime and the usual channels. TIA!

Monarch of the Glen
House of Elliott

Both really good series from a few years back (not sure if they’re on any platform).

Shakespeare and Hathaway - cosy detective series and must goto cosy watching (series 4 is just being filmed - hooray!).

Also Mallory Towers on iplayer. Although a children's series, it’s definitely worth watching. Mallory Towers and Shakespeare and Hathaway kept me going whilst recovering from covid.

The Durrells

AvocadoAndToast · 16/12/2021 20:13

Ooo great thanks. Monarch of the Glen looks good and I loved the Mallory Towers books as a child so that’s worth checking out.
I’ll look up the others too.

I loved the Durrells, was a Sunday night staple, especially Gerry and his animals.

What is CTMW?

I liked Cranford
Durrells
Howards End (is old now but lovely)
Room with a view (likewise)
The Favourite

Eddielzzard · 16/12/2021 20:18

Oh just twigged - Call the Mid Wife

Ididanamechange · 16/12/2021 20:23

I've found myself quite enjoying the new all creatures great and small on 5. Very twee and cosy and definitely has a Downton Abbey vibe

Anne with an E

CTMW = Call The Midwife?

AvocadoAndToast · 16/12/2021 21:04

Yes Call the midwife - sorry was too long for the title!

Some fab ones here, some that I’ve previously enjoyed like Anne with an E and Selfridges.

Others I’ve enjoyed that those with similar tastes may like have been Last Tango in Halifax, Home Fires, Gentleman Jack and Upstairs Downstairs - just not sure if they are widely available now.

All creatures great and small will be a fab watch over Christmas - thanks for the suggestion.

Yes Last Tango in Halifax was marvellous.

Corbally I watched the Favourite on Amazon, but had to rent it, it wasn't part of the Prime package unfortunately.

Titsywoo · 16/12/2021 21:49

Gilmore Girls - top comfort viewing!

RaisedByPangolins · 16/12/2021 21:49

Indian Summers (was originally on channel 4, not sure where it is now - Prime maybe?). Like Downton in India.

wellingtonsandwaffles · 16/12/2021 21:53

Bridgerton if you haven’t yet watched that!
Dickinson on Apple TV is also good.

Bit quite the same vibe but interesting real life characters like the Crown - impeachment: American crime story. (BBC / other less reputable download sites!)

I tape upstairs downstairs every week. Love it.

Hydrate · 16/12/2021 22:00

I recently began watching Doc Martin, it is pretty good.

kingsleysbootlicker · 16/12/2021 22:05

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, it's on Prime

highlandteajenny · 16/12/2021 22:09

The Paradise, originally BBC but according to Google it's on Amazon Prime now

elizabethcharlotte · 16/12/2021 22:10

I watched a bit and I didn't like it. She talks too much.
