Just as well, as they seem to have lost all of the ones under 9...

R was out of time and his movement from each ‘section’ he’d learnt was awful, it didn’t flow.

I'm glad someone else saw what I did!

John wasn't perfect though. I think they were both pretty much equal.

lollipoprainbow · 13/12/2021 07:22

*I'm a bit team Rose I do think Aj can dance & oh my goodness what a good looking girl in a frock but I did hear she has been taking lots lots and lots of dancing lessons as she always wanted to be on the programme ( may not be true)

The one thing I thing AJ could do for all of us ( and I think someone has said this before ( in a patronising mum way - Aj shall we use our indoor voice ) She makes my ears hurt.*

I can believe she's been taking dance lessons she seems very competitive and not humble like she makes out, the way she moreorless punched the air and said 'yes' when she was through to the final ! And yes her voice is way too loud, also don't get the Kai obsession from posters on here.

Riverlee · 13/12/2021 07:26

I thought J and J had the better dance-off. Rhys’s dance felt clumpy to me (although love his enthusiasm and enjoyment).

Talking of conspiracy, wasn’t there a possible racist outcry when Nadia was voted out on the first week (I would have liked to see her going further), and yet three of the four semi-finalist couples had BAME partners in it.

Riverlee · 13/12/2021 07:27

Ie. In conclusion, not racist.

SoupDragon · 13/12/2021 07:29

There are accusations of racism every year.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 13/12/2021 07:35

I think that dance-off deserved to be far closer than the clean sweep of votes for John suggests it was. Rhys was far more comfortable with his samba than John was in that jive, and I get so frustrated by Johannes inability to modulate his dancing to match his celeb. It actually makes him one of the weakest pros in teaching terms despite his undoubted ability as a dancer. He just can’t seem to help making it all about him.

Rummikub · 13/12/2021 08:02

Agree that Johannes out dances his partners and it’s why I’m not a fan.
John did well to attempt to keep up but the difference is noticeable.

Samcro · 13/12/2021 08:09

so glad Rose is in the final.
thought John look tired when he was in DO.

That’s precisely what I thought. Apart from the fumble in the middle of Rhys’s samba - more Nancy’s than his - theirs was a more exciting, evenly matched and entertaining dance all round, whatever the imperfections, whereas John often looks as if he’s struggling to keep up with Johannes, never more so than in that dodgy jive; the so-called mirroring was poor to say the least. I’ve enjoyed j and j mostly, but based on that dance off, I think they should have gone. No conspiracy theories here, but it was interesting that Craig made that comment along the lines of “you should have heard what they really said” when they were discussing the judges comments about each of the celebrities, as if they’d kind of given up on Rhys already.

CaveMum · 13/12/2021 08:29

Oh come on lollipop! A woman dared to show genuine excitement at getting through to the Final?! How very dare she!

And she’s competitive too you say? The horror! That’s not very ladylike now is it?

Hmm
Clawdy · 13/12/2021 08:34

CaveMum yes, I agree. I liked her joyous excitement.

cordelia16 · 13/12/2021 08:41

@Phineyj

Surely it was obvious J+J would go through just looking at the bookies' odds last week? Rhys' fans are the wrong demographic and John has more public support.

I enjoy watching all the couples but found it hard to relax watching two people as intense as Rhys and Nancy, whereas all the others look like they're having a blast.

but it was the judges who put J+J through, not the audience. so the public support doesn't factor here.

J+J didn't have enough public support to save them from the dance off this week. once the couple lands in the dance off, it's up to the judges alone who goes through.

StCharlotte · 13/12/2021 08:45

Does anyone else think Rose's laugh sounds like Catherine Tate's Nana?

I'm not being nasty - mine sounds like Mrs Brown Confused

Phineyj · 13/12/2021 09:23

That's not what I meant - there must be an element of ratings? The BBC pay the bills!!

No. I think she's absolutely full of joy. The more laughter the better.
Maireas · 13/12/2021 09:47

AJ too loud for some?
She's from a Nigerian family of ten children, raised in a terraced house in Blackburn. Good on her for being loud and direct! I love her attitude.
She's a breath of fresh air.

Piggyinblankets · 13/12/2021 09:50

Oh, I read something the other day about policing women's volume. It was about the professor form Exeter. Will dig it out..

Piggyinblankets · 13/12/2021 09:52

Here we go :

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/dec/07/loud-academic-wins-unfair-dismissal-case-against-university

Women are also accused of interrupting more than men, of being abrasive, and of being disruptive influences. I guess it goes back to the school model when, on the whole, girls are passive and compliant. Those who aren't are treated as deviating from norms. Conversely, teachers also ted to criticise girls for being 'too quiet' so it is hard to win!!

Piggyinblankets · 13/12/2021 09:54

Btw, I also work with many female teachers who are told off (by senior staff AND by pupils and their parents!) for being 'too loud'.

do you think the judges put J+J through so that the ratings next week would be higher? I can definitely see that being the case. I know the judges are never fully objective. But I wonder what would have happened if J+J had completely flubbed their dance off.
Runningupthecurtains · 13/12/2021 10:07

do you think the judges put J+J through so that the ratings next week would be higher?
Nope because I think they have actually put Tilly through because they want to recruit her dad so they can't vote for J&J.
Oh no sorry that theory has proven to be bollox hasn't it.

IntermittentParps · 13/12/2021 10:12

Rose's 'smelly breath' comment was hilarious. Giovanni loves her, but I don't think he's used to women who are so funny.

Their AT was gorgeous. Waltz was a bit meh, TBH.
J&J jive I loved; unusual music but it worked. CC was just the usual contempowaft and, as a previous thread said, the outfits were a bit 'bargain twin-pack'.
Rhys and Nancy the samba didn't suit him IMO; too wild and leggy, but

he gave it laldy so good on him. Tango was good, but I hate rock tangos; wish they'd give everyone proper music. I'm sad to see him go but glad he did that glorious AT before he did.
AJ's quickstep was fabulous; proper music, exciting, muscular choreography. Loved her rumba as well. Classy and smooth.
It was a good SF all round.

Maireas · 13/12/2021 10:33

Good points, plus the link. I'm always encouraging the girls at school to speak up and express themselves! AJ is direct and forthright - not rude, but she is not coy. I really like her attitude!
Phineyj · 13/12/2021 11:16

I am saying they are good box office and it's an entertainment show.
