Representation is important. Of course it is.
And yes about validation. But for the hard work and sweat and tears to reach the glittery heights.
Is it a show people go on to find acceptance? Not for me it hasn’t been. I can’t say I think of Strictly like that.
I would just like it to be about dancing. And seeing the celebrities shine.
It just seems to be that what shouldn’t even matter is being made to matter and I think that the highlighting of differences does not necessarily facilitate acceptance.
There have been some unfair accusations on this thread that have spoiled it for me.
If someone says they don’t like someone/something it has on occasion been made out to be something it isn’t about at all.
Sometimes, after a day that has been tragic or hard or too long or too frustrating I just want to watch people swirl about looking joyful or all loved up or dramatic on a dance floor.
Likewise reading the mostly wonderful comments on these threads.
It is my escape.
