I think it’s her boyfriends choice to stay in the background, though I think it suits the media to ignore him too. They have been out together with Gio and there have been photos of him meeting her at the studios.

If he is a private person I think Roses raised profile and the love that Gio demonstrates for Rose may be difficult for him. I was surprised that he wasn’t on the VT though.

I'm being wholly unreasonable. I know. Blame it on my inner grinch. Am just slightly weary of Gio's raptures, probably cos I'm still here thinking, poor Debbie wuz robbed. I don't like feeling manipulated is all. That's why I found Nina refreshing. None of that is Rose's fault, mind, and I'm probably sulking cos I didn't put a bet on! Wink
It was lovely seeing John's DH in his vt though.

Just as an aside to all the emotional stuff on ITT.. can I just say that I LOVED seeing Rylan dance in the intro, I really hope one day he'd sign up to do the series

my dd knows Rylan and he is the loveliest chap , he’d be great as one of the dancers.

Dylan’s would have been an amazing contestant. Wish he could have done prior to ITT gig. I like that him and Janette danced together tonight. Was really good episode. Really emotional. AJ and Kai Sad so upset for them. Like that they did their journey and family VTs as they did for the other finalists. As they said they ARE finalists!! I hope they are properly acknowledged in the final. I’d hate to have just a few quite few lines from Tess/Claudia at the start and for them to then be ignored. I hope she’s there in person too (although that would be so hard for her Sad).

I loved AJ and would have voted for her. I think she would have brought more drama and interest to the final.

So now I need to decide between John and Rose. I’m not sure I can Confused. After John’s interview I was convinced I’d vote for him. He just seems so so lovely. But then Rose was interviews abs arrrg I love her too. So nice. Such a story. So yeah I’ve no clue now. Wish AJ was still in so I didn’t have to make hard choices Blush

I don't think it would ever have been realistic to draft Rhys back in. It would feel really odd having had all he goodbyes last week, and it wold be obvious that he was only there to fill in the gap and had no hope of winning, having been in the dance-off so often already. In his place, I'd seriously struggle to get an motivation to do all that hard, hard work knowing that it was all pretty pointless.

It would have been really problematic for lots of reasons - no one else has been allowed back when someone has pulled out, he would have had at least a days less training than the other couples, they would have either had to force AJ and Kai to make a decision on carrying on or not a soon as the injury happened or effectively say to AJ that they knew she would not make it so they were pulling in a replacement. I would much rather have three in the final but dragging Rhys back was not an option for me. With hindsight they should have skipped a boot as soon as Robert had to pull out but they got to the final week with three still in place which was probably the aim all along.

I hope they show everything that they would have shown for AJ other than her actual
live dances. So all the prerecord bits and her name up (think they did in past in lights each finalist) etc etc. I have a horrible feeling they are just going to do the “AJ is injured and can’t compete - were all so sad and wish her luck” line then completely ignore her which will be really off in my opinion. She should get the honour of being acknowledged in the final properly.

I noticed on ITT they did a quick chat with the other contestants there for the group dance but didn’t mention Tilly at all. I kept waiting for her name to be mentioned and “quick she can’t join as Covid positive” but there was nothing. I assume this will be ignored in the main show also. Similarly for Robert although he withdrew from ill health you’d think they could still acknowledge him at least on ITT. I think those were the only two missing.

Just caught up with ITT…

Poor little Kai - he looked genuinely devastated by what’s happened Sad

I liked J&J’s interview and I’m really looking forward to their dances tomorrow.

I’m disappointed by R&G’s dances as neither of them wowed me technically. Their couples choice was fantastic in terms of concept and emotions, but like most wafty CC dances, it didn’t have much an impact on me otherwise. And as for the QS, I find those routines quite boring anyway, and I particularly disliked R&G’s…… but I don’t think Rose’s costume helped.

But OMG - Gio looked freaking H.O.T on ITT! Seeing him sitting there casually in his hoodie and trainers left me feeling very, very aroused Grin

I got the impression he was feeling guilty about something.

Maybe he had accidentally hurt her?

Maybe he feels responsible for creating such demanding choreography?

I don’t know…..but it just felt like there was something more behind the level of upset he was feeling.

I'm cynical, me, and somewhat put out on behalf of Rose's long-standing ten year old boyfriend (who was seen in the audience last week iirc) that he was not included in her loved ones vt.

I admit I was surprised by this, I can understand not wanting to be in the limelight but I did think he might give a small message in the VT. I think John's partner is quite private and I thought it was nice he appeared. I'm sure Rose understands his reasons though, and may have been the one to tell him it's ok that he doesn't appear.

Also just watching ITT (home from nightshift) and I’m a tiny bit sobby.

Like schadey, I didn’t warm to AJ at first but by god, the lass (wee bit loud as she is 😉) has shown nothing but charm and fortitude and has accepted her lot with more grace than I could hope to show in a lifetime.

Yer maw said the sky is the limit for ye lass.

And Kai crying? I get it.

The final will be poorer because the pair of you aren’t there.

Gutted for and about AJ, annoyed with the producers for stupidly not skipping an elimination to avoid a two couple final, and also very sorry for the remaining two couples. Whichever one wins now, some of the gloss has been taken off; beating just one other to lift the glitter ball will be something of a hollow victory. I honestly think it could have been anyone’s - even if Rose is the fave - depending on what happens on the night.

I was hoping they’d have Robert there but Sat rather than dancing etc but maybe he’s trying to keep out of covid too. Weird they didn’t mention Tilly or have her on video.

I'd like to see Robert in the audience tonight and having a bit of a chat with Claudia - god knows they'll have time to fill. But with the current state of Covid and his heart condition he might want to give it a swerve. They'll have done well if they've only lost Tilly to the Rona tbh.

My first impression of AJ. Goodness, she’s loud. But, like others, I watched her interview with Kai on It Takes Two and realised what a trouper she is.

I would rather like her to be given a last minute cameo role in a group dance in the final. Does anyone remember Denise van Outen with her bling sling joining in a group number sitting on a chair after she was injured on Dancing On Ice?

My proper happy ending for AJ, though, would be for her to be able to perform her show dance with Kai in a future Strictly Special.

The happy ending I’ve got pencilled in for Rose and Giovanni involves them opening a dance school specialising in teaching people who are deaf to dance. (Rose’s boyfriend would have to be on board with this of course.)

I am still contemplating what shape a happy ending for John and Johannes would take. Any ideas?

Honestly I think Gio should reign it in a bit. I don't doubt he's had a moving experience and that they're very close but the gushing is getting a bit too much. I can't imagine Rose's boyfriend being comfortable with that behaviour.

I watched ITT and I seldom cry at ANYTHING but what Rose said, especially at the end, did make me emotional. Also, she seldom shows anything but a jokey side of herself, so that was really powerful.

AJ and Kai were brilliant. What a lass. Poor Kai, I guess all the emotion and adrenaline caught up with him. I thought Rylan did a fantastic job. I loved that he started by reminding them 'you are still FINALISTS'.

I hope AJ makes a full recovery and keeps on dancing. And yes, I want to see her getting showcased in the final. Whether through best bits or whatever. Not just shown, and forgotten. She fought hard for her place, and but for the unfortunate injury, would have no doubt given tremendous performances tonight.

Robert hasn't appeared on ITT, nor have I seen him give an interview elsewhere. It would be nice if he participated tonight, even via a zoom message.
It was a shame that he had to drop out.

Surely they could fill the gaps with Kai doing the routine he should have done with AJ , with Oti/any other professional female dancer of your choice, taking on AJ's role? They're pros - they'd pick it up super quick. No marking, obviously, but at least we'd get to see what could have been. No long, waffly, filler bits to bore us to death. Win/win. Get well soon AJ.
I love this idea!

Plus the idea of AJ and Kai coming back at the start of next season and doing their dances so that we can see what they would have looked like with AJ herself!

I'm gutted for them. I want Rose to win but have loved watching AJ every week (even when it's not been her best week).
