I fear it is almost certainly going to be a giant rose didn't Vicky Gill say Rose will be in a pink frock? The whole thing is going to be rose themed I expect. Maybe they'll both be hidden in the giant rose to be revealed as the music starts!

I agree with PPs who said the producers should have dropped one elimination after Robert pulled out in case anyone else was forced out due to Covid or injury.

I wonder what they would do if Rose/Joe Varney or John/Johannes tested positive for Covid today/tomorrow? Just scrap the show and declare the last couple standing the victor?

Chris Hollins and Ricky Whittle was also a two couple final, wasn't it? Didn't they each do three dances, plus the lindy hop-athon, where RW made a pig's ear of lifting Natalie?

The BBC could always just shorten the show. They often rearrange the schedule to accommodate last minute changes - sporting events, covid briefings etc.

They can't cut it too much - they still need to keep enough turn around time between dances for the remaining two couples to change costume/hair/ makeup (and I guess have the pro remind the celeb of what they have to focus on that particular dance). They will need to factor in that turn around time so it's not just a case of cut it 30 minutes and stick a re-run of an old sitcom on. The spaces where AJs VT, dance, judges comments, chat with Claudia will need to be filled with something so the others can get ready for their next dance. It's going to be waffle-tastic!

Also agree they should have rolled the vote over when Robert dropped out, especially as any of them could be forced to isolate right up to the final.

In a strange turn, my girls night out has been cancelled but now I can watch the final live .

I can't help feeling that if they had pulled out earlier Rhys and Nancy as losing semi finalists could have been drafted back

Absolutely gutted that AJ and Kai won't be in the final. I've loved them since week 1. I think she'll be pretty devastated.

I’m of the same opinion. Rhys could have been put on standby while AJ judged whether she could dance or not.

They could have given him the finalist fee regardless just to keep it tidy.

I don’t blame AJ for hoping and praying but pain that makes you projectile vomit is unlikely to be better in 5 days.

Having Rhys prepped would have been sensible.

The people who voted for John still have him in the final so no major crying there.

I think it would have been sensible after they weren’t sensible in skipping an elimination after Robert. 🤷‍♀️

Oh. I'm so sad about AJ. I agree with everyone else who said she brought much-needed excitement to the competition. The timing of the injury in the final week is a real kicker.

I also think she diluted Rose's vote, based on comments on here and in real life, so with her gone, any hair of doubt that Rose is set to win is gone.

Poor AJ. Not everyone's favourite but objectively the best dancer of the final three.

Such a shame for AJ and Kai - she was a beautiful dancer and it was set to be one of the best finals for a long time in terms of quality of the dancing.
But long term you can't mess about with these kind of injuries - I hope she recovers asap. Kai I imagine is busy being shoehorned into all the pro dances, as the show must go on. Goodness knows what the filler will be - Craig and Motsi doing a turn to ' Pump up the Volume'? A sultry rumba with Shirley and Anton in one of his cat suits ? Claudia will be rehearsing some hilarious gags involving her wearing a basket of fruit on her head and Tess will be practising her quick change act where she swaps her robo belts 20 times without anyone noticing.

Not sure I concur; some of her Latin was somewhat ropy IMO; although I think I may be in the minority, I found her salsa leggy and sprawly even without the lift muck-up.

BUT of course she is overall wonderful (loved the Charleston and quickstep particularly) and it's desperately sad for them.

@IntermittentParps - I agree - I think at her best Aj was fabulous but possibly not quite as consistent as others. Still sad she could not give it a shot. But all best for her recovery - that is more important

I don't think Rose or John could have pulled off the CC that AJ and Kai did. Obviously she wasn't perfect but she took risks, and if that sometimes made her look a bit less polished well, I suppose that's why I enjoyed watching her.

Even when AJ didn't have a great week her dances were never boring and she was always enjoyable to watch. Fantastic dancer and she seemed like a lovely person too. Really sad it's turned out this way. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

I don't suppose there's much appetite for a lindyhop after the absolute hash the judges made of it last time - scores reversed, iPads crashing, pieces of paper being snatched desperately out of thin air and BRUNO being the saviour.

It's that or going out on the street to ask passers by for their opinions on something or other, to fill time.

And I totally agree, feel so sorry for AJ, and Kai, but her health must come first, no matter what.
