Just as well, as they seem to have lost all of the ones under 9...

Just because they can does not mean that they should...even with cortisone injections, doing a high impact jive and charleston with ligament damage is just insane.
She'd be better off calling it now - or on ITT yesterday - and if she can learn how to manoeuvre one, practising a different last dance freestyle with Kai, using a wheelchair.

Just to clarify I wasn't suggesting that she should dance - just that if she did it would be on minimal rehearsal.
GoodPrincessWenceslas · 16/12/2021 10:47

I got the distinct impression from AJ's general demeanour on ITT that she really wasn't expecting to be able to get back to dancing any time soon. I'm really sorry about it, I enjoy watching her and I suspect that Kai's showdance would have been very good.

Redcrayons · 16/12/2021 10:51

I don’t think she will or should dance. Unless they are over egging it. I’ve had ligament damage in my ankle, sadly not through too much dancing, but running. Even when I could put weight I still couldn’t run for a month.

Although I think Rose is the nailed on winner, I’m delighted that AJ made the final. To fall at the last hurdle must be devastating.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 16/12/2021 11:10

bluffin

Echoing your shout out.

I will now be working for the final. And indeed most days on the lead up to the Festive C due to folk isolating.

I’ve yet to watch ITT. It sounds as though it was a sore watch.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 16/12/2021 12:26

Vernon's interviewing Tess on This Morning and she's just said AJ is hoping to go back into training this afternoon. Although she didn't say it with much conviction.....

ppeatfruit · 16/12/2021 13:53

Oh fgs if AJ hasnt got the sense to say no then the docs must She could lasting damage if she forces it.

I haven't read the whole thread but I reckon that the boys being in the final has very little to do with them being better than Rhys in the semi (which they weren't) and most to do with politics. The beeb has to be seen to be woke doesn't it

Not this shite again. But OK I will bite.

How did 'the boys' get to the final then? Do you think all three judges were told, and agreed, to vote to save them?

You must try harder at hiding your homophobia.

Gay people existing is not woke.

Seemslikeagoodidea · 16/12/2021 15:10

@CaveMum

Well with my racing background, let’s just say if AJ were a horse she’d be looking at minimum 6 weeks on box rest Sad

I can’t see her performing on Saturday.

Grin I like your style @CaveMum - do you often apply 'horse sense' to human problems? It's probably quite useful. Smile

Taking it a bit further, if you tried to make a horse race with such a painful injury, it might well refuse.

www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2021/dec/16/adrian-chiless-christmas-strictly-diary-unused-to-my-tight-outfit-i-didnt-get-low-enough-for-the-lift-

This was a nice read.
Sorry running Flowers my post was in response to yours but wasn't meant to be at you - I think you are right in them cortisoning her for Great Britain atm but with so little rehearsal, it makes no sense.
Ruminating on how fast AJ could learn to do wheelies in a wheelchair brought me back to this lovely pro dance and to Caroline Flack

If they have time to fill, I wouldn't have minded two non-scored guest freestyles from Rhys and Dan. That would have been awesome.

SequinsandStiIettos · 16/12/2021 15:15

John and Johannes had the public vote right until it got down to the last four and have been consistent throughout, even if that has meant comments on some choreos looking the same at times.
I like John very much and he has worked as hard as the others.
Johannes has outdanced him, I think we all agree on that, but it has been a good partnership nonetheless.

BasiliskStare · 16/12/2021 15:37

I have no idea what exact injury AJ obviously has but I do know my mother had torn ligaments in her ankle and ended up having to have operations and pins inserted because she ignored it for a short time. Probably not the same. So whilst I would love to see AJ dancing again I am sure she will take doctor's advice and we ( & I think she ) can cope if she cannot dance again - ( by which I mean the final - not ever ) she seems very resilient . - she has done some beautiful dances . It's unfortunate for her , obviously - but also sad for Robert Webb. Stuff happens & I think she will have enjoyed all her time.

IntermittentParps · 16/12/2021 15:45

It seems worse/more tantalising for her though as she's got so very far Sad
I mean, I don't think she was ever going to win; she hasn't been that popular – but to get to the final and then miss it... She must be heartbroken.

CaveMum · 16/12/2021 15:46

@Seemslikeagoodidea I try apply horse sense/logic to every aspect of my life Wink. But yes some horses would refuse to race and sadly they are such willing creatures that sometimes they will run anyway, even though they’re in pain and make the injury so much worse Sad

At the end of the day there is no need for AJ to do herself potentially long term damage for the sake of the Final, as much as I want to see her dance.

Yes they had the 2nd public vote. Rose and Gio have the number 1 spot there.
SilverRingahBells · 16/12/2021 16:56

John and Johannes obviously have a decent public vote because they've demonstrably scored above other couples in the past, but last week they had a lower public vote than AJ, (and the week before we can't be sure who scored higher even though AJ was in the dance-off).

The "boys" have been consistently good, scored well and have had the popular vote. I would suggest that's why they're in the final.
Runningupthecurtains · 16/12/2021 17:07

I still think the final is (was?) more open than we think. The obvious choice doesn't always win and I think if one of the show dances is outstanding it could tip the balance - I'm thinking of a wow moment like the silence in Rose and Gio's CC (and I still wonder if they used that wow factor too soon and should have kept it for the final). If JoJo has a similarly breath taking idea that he has been holding back all series they could win and I would have said the same about AJ and Kai if not for the injury.

Thanks for the flowers @SequinsandStilettos but they were not needed no offence was taken. I just worry that AJ is determined to go ahead and will end up causing herself serious damage and while not being in with a shot of winning because of a lack of rehearsal and inability to completely 'go for it' because of the injury. I really, really don't want a final marred by her breaking down mid dance. It's supposed to be a healthy dose of joy and sparkles Glitterball - tears of pain or screams of agony are not what I watch for. I would love to see her and Kai dance in the final, but not at any cost.

ppeatfruit · 16/12/2021 17:10

I said they were not as good as Rhys IN THE SEMI FINAL. Which they weren't in the jive. Iam not homophobic, John has been v. good throughout. Johannes is extraordinary but it shouldn't be judged on the pro IMO

The final when there were 3 women who were much better than the one bloke with ( katya who is also extraordinary) who won makes me think the judges are not always completely unbiased .

I feel sorry for the producers in this one though! they'll have to think very fast.

orangeautumnleaves · 16/12/2021 17:11

I felt the Rhys's and Nancy were better in the dance off than J&J.

I actually love Jo Jo and was hugely excited about J&J but tbh to me they have just not progressed over the 2nd half of the series where I really think Rhys did, massively so.

I think Rhys deserved that final spot more. I am not saying it was rigged but think it's a shame.

SunshineCake1 · 16/12/2021 17:16

I can't warm to Janette and much prefer Rylan.

I feel gutted for AJ and really hope she makes a miraculous recovery. If not, I hope she really has found love with Kai then it isn't all heartbreak.

I still think Rose will win but it would be a painful if only for AJ.

How did they get to the final? By being saved by the judges. You think this has 'to do with politics' and that 'The beeb has to be seen to be woke'. What are we meant to understand this to mean other than that the judges voted for them because they thought they should/were instructed to put through a gay/same-sex couple for reasons of these 'woke' 'politics'?
ppeatfruit · 16/12/2021 17:25

Well we all have different opinions . Funny old world if we all thought the same eh?

riotlady · 16/12/2021 17:29

Interestingly in James and Ola’s column they said they thought John was the best dancer this series- I (with my absolute lack of dancing knowledge) don’t think he’s been as good as AJ and Rose but clearly enough professionals think he’s good enough that he doesn’t require a BBC conspiracy to make the final!
