Having watched the dance off I think AJ has balance issues. She doesn’t look “grounded” in the faster dances and I notice she’s in the lower Latin heels (2 inch rather than 3) - I know she’s tall but that’s not what the heels are about, they’re about pitching the weight forward to allow the feet to move correctly to achieve the correct leg positions.

Not sure what she can do at this stage to rectify it but it could be her downfall.

Have to say I'm not sure whether it was nerves or her balance. But watching AJ dance both times made me feel a bit uneasy. Like she was about to come a cropper or something

The salsa has outside choreographers. Not sure if the lifts were Kai’s idea

I've always thought it's an ankle and foot strength problem with her. If she'd been dancing for longer her teacher would have had her working on it daily with therabands and it would have made a difference. And also she doesn't straighten her legs fully.

Doubt whether Kai choreoed the salsa - they don't usually?
He does have to choreo TWO next week though, same as Nancy, whereas Gio and Johannes will probably get outside help for the AT and CC.

I’m sure that was a “ plan b” ending from AJ and Kai, one they knew could be executed cleanly, but it wasn’t the face climbing dusAAA-ster they attempted before.

Dan done well, but he is the weakest dancer at this stage, so it’s time to say goodbye, with good grace.

I'm pleased AJ managed the lift at the end of the salsa and is in the semi finals. I really felt for her when she cried after her first dance. Hopefully her confidence will rebuild by next week.

I thought the thing about turning lights on was lovely. He was saying she is an inspiring and lovely human ,as well as a great dancer. Nadiya seemed bland to me before. I really appreciate her warmth, teaching and hard work this year and he has showcased that.

Along with Rose, AJ has been my favourite from the beginning, I voted to save her last night, and she's obviously a better dancer than Dan, but based on that dance-off I'm not sure if I would have saved her. It was like she'd just come off the waltzers.

We just don't know - she could have come second in the public vote and still been in the dance-off.
e.g.
Rose 4 + 5 = 9
Rhys 4 + 2 = 6
John 3 + 3 = 6
Dan 2 + 1 = 3 DO
AJ 1 + 4 = 5 DO

Someone on Dig Spy worked out there was something like 16 permutations

Dan has now posted on Facebook about his experience. I think what he has written is a perfect summing up of his 'journey'.

I have actually met Dan. He is genuinely a nice man. He wasn't a great dancer, but he tried hard. He has the right values, and that's no bad thing.

I don't think there is anything sinister about Dan's comment on switching lights on.

I took it as Nadiya has given him the confidence to do something that he is afraid to do, which is to dance in front of an audience.

I don't think Mrs Walker has anything to worry about. She knows her husband better than any of us.

I think she was just so happy to be put with someone who she had a chance of getting far with. She's normally put with the awful tall stiff guys (as Dan was, but he had a ready made BBC fanbase!) Hopefully they won't just use height as a criterion for her next year.

I liked Dan and voted for him a couple of times but this week voted for Rhys. Not an AJ fan although she does have lovely legs

I gave Rhys 3 votes last night as I wanted to save him from the DO, even though not in my top 3. I wasn't the only one.
Many gave AJ 3 votes on here - similar to her paso - as she was bottom of leader board. I might do that next week as I would love her in the finals. Dan was a very dignified, gracious loser last night and I think going out on a tango as opposed to party latin next week is the best outcome for him.
It all comes down to combos next week.
AJ - I'd be guessing QS and rumba but have been wrong before
Rose - AT and waltz?
John - CC and jive?
Rhys - tango and samba

Relieved Rhys was finally able to feel some public love.

Relieved Dance 2.0 was better for AJ.

Also relieved to note that Dan is better at stringing words together than dance moves. Not that his dancing was that bad, imo.
