Just read the announcement that that the actor who plays Ellis has quit over the “race row” involving Matthew Wolfenden and Isabel Hodgins

Saw that too @HaileyBailey. Very intriguing. However I believe this is classed as a spoiler as it hasn't happened yet in the show. I've been ticked off for posting the return of a character in the past despite all the trailers on TV so didn't want to post this snippet of info, even though we are all dying to know what the hell is going on! 😂

No apparently Ellis actor had argument with David actor about the treatment of a female cast member.

Maybe it is Meena then...must be serious if he’s quit over it the handling of it all...

They just need to come out and say what is going on....it’s all supposition lol!! Maybe he said it’s them or him and they want to keep David and Victoria in the show ...who knows!?!

I think trouble is there are a few in Emmerdale been is show for years and may be a bit uppity ...time for a clear out and some new characters!! Why the heck did Kerry need to re appear...bad idea !

The accent thing is what confuses me. I can’t think of anyone in the cast with a discernible ‘non-British’ (for the want of a better term) accent. Obviously that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been a racist incident of some kind, but it’s odd that accent has been mentioned as an issue more than once.

I think it’s that the reports have mentioned it’s a mixed race actress that hints at a racist element. Of course, that could be media shit stirring.

If Matthew and Isobel were mimicking an accent I think they were probably just taking the piss out of Meena's acting voice rather than being racist. But it's only a guess as no idea if it's Meena but her hammy overacting and the way she talks is bloody ridiculous so seems most obvious theory to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

I agree @PrincessScarlett. I think it’s most likely they were mocking meena actresses way of speaking as we have done on these threads because she does speak in a very strange way sometimes.

Bring back Asan N'Jie! Now that Debbie is gone I'm sure the rest of the cast wouldn't mind him being there. He's done his time in the wilderness

I can’t even remember what old head Ellis looked like. That was such a weird recast - he was completely dispensable.
