I think the use of Edelweiss was a nod to the fact that Kai played one of the middle Von Trapp children (Rolf) in the 1965 original The Sound Of Music

Except Rolf wasn’t one of the Von Trapp children, he was the blond delivery boy turned Nazi who danced around the bandstand with the oldest girl at the start and blew the whistle when the family were hiding from the Nazis at the end (yes, I know... I’ve seen TSOM far too many times)

Ahh you got me, I was going to google a mid- age Von Trapp but was half watching Saturday Kitchen on catch up and CBA. I thought Rolf sounded suitably familiar

The plot line is absolutely impenetrable, and Jodie Whittaker cannot deliver a convincing line.
They'd be better off with Rusty Lee.

It isn't so much Jodie W at all. Absolute Pish writing, really bad, I wasn't keen on the RTD era but the BBC must realise how badly its flagged to be bringing back the guy who made such a good relaunch of it in the first place
