Oh i see. Thank you.

Just watched ITT and feel really gutted for Sara again Sad She had another few weeks worth in her and I’d have loved to have seen musicals week for her. I do like Tilly also so was please she was through but wish neither were going Tom needs to go then Dan and Rhys before Tilly or Sara

With the dance off how do the judges decide? I didn’t see either make an error and both looked to my untrained eyes as if they performed much in line with their main show sat performance so how do 3 of the judges justify completely changing their minds in the best dance? Craig scores them both 7 as he mentioned but S M and A all scores Sara one higher than Tilly. I feel quite sorry for Sara in that respect. It’s not like she has a bad week and needed to go home. She was quite high/mid leader board so people probably thought she was a save (she mentioned this also on ITT). I suppose it will remind people that now is the time to start voting favourites regardless of leader board positions.

SmellyOldOwls · 15/11/2021 21:55

@GrrrlPwr

Maybe I am projecting from my SIL.who always 'doesnt know why' but doesn't like any black dancer. She seems to have no clue what the common thread is. Surely that's unconscious bias?

You do see this on shows where people get voted off it's very often black contestants being voted off first. Once you've seen it you can't unsee it. I'm so glad AJ and Rhys haven't been voted off before other dancers who just aren't as good.

Platax · 15/11/2021 22:32

Seems a bit unfair to pick on Motsi for agreeing with the others when you could just as easily pick on Craig or Anton for the same thing. I agree with SoupDragon that they will all already have submitted their choices before they speak anyway precisely so they can’t be influenced by each other.

The point is that she seems to go for the predictable person every time and doesn't seem to base her decision on her personal views of how the respective couples have actually performed in the dance-off. All the others do, witness the fact that at various times Craig, Anton and Shirley have all been the one dissenting vote, but Motsi never seems to be.

Egghead68 · 15/11/2021 22:38

@coodawoodashooda

What did Brendan do wrong?
Fell out with Shirley
MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 15/11/2021 22:46

Hearing Sara describe her training routine on ITT, it made me realise just how much time and effort the celebs have to put in and obviously the further they progress in the show, the harder it must be to let it go. I loved the Oti section too 😍

SoupDragon · 15/11/2021 22:49

How do you know it's not her personal views? Whose views are they going to be? If it's predictable then there is a reason for that.

SoupDragon · 15/11/2021 22:53

I thought Tilly improved in the dance off. It's rare that I notice stuff like this as I'm clueless but I remember thinking her footwork looked really dodgy on the main performance and watched it in the second where it was much better. I didn't notice anything about Sara's really.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/11/2021 23:18

I've enjoyed watching Sara and her rollercoaster ride of ups and downs each week and I'm sorry that her time has ended. However in that DO line up, it was a fair call. Her attitude and work ethic has been impressive.

Tilly has grown on me, and she's improving. The judging seems more realistic than some of the earlier weeks when she seemed to get an inflated score.

I want to see Rose, AJ and John in the final and have done for a few weeks. I'd like to see Rhys and Tilly get close. They don't have the consistency, but are the better dancers of the others left.

Tom has bored me week in, week out. Amy seems very nice but they tend to waft in, and do something decent yet instantly forgettable. Dan is weaker but I'd like to see him outlive Tom for a week as at least there's some entertainment value.

So far I've voted for the weaker but more entertaining dancers, but they're out now so I'll be shifting towards the people I want to make it through to the semis & final rather than who I want to cling on for another week. Annoyingly I watched on the green button and it finished bang on 8:35 when the voting closed.

JacquelineCarlyle · 15/11/2021 23:22

I thought Tilly was much better in the dance off and also thought Sara seemed much worse - to me (untrained!) she looked like she'd made mistakes and looked very awkward and stiff. It made me wonder if her legs were hurting as she mentioned needing to foam roller lots during training, so having to do the dance a 2nd time in a short timescale was maybe too much for her.

Frezia · 15/11/2021 23:27

IMO Sara's AT was poor, Aljaž might as well danced with a mannequin. There was no attitude and no tension, she was either dragged along or propped by him. Sorry but it was right that she went. I think Tilly has more left to give. I do generally like Dan as a personality and he brought some entertainment but he's out of his league and really should go next weekend.
Tom can dance but he is so bland I can't even dislike him, he instantly fades from memory. Rhys is a one trick pony. Rose, AJ and John stand out as dancers and performers.

GreenLunchBox · 15/11/2021 23:53

So true. I keep forgetting he's still in it.

JacquelineCarlyle · 15/11/2021 23:57

Me too!

Arlene is going into the jungle (well, castle).

I quite like Dan ( exit one stout party ) I do think John and Aj can dance but for me having to turn the sound down when Aj speaks counts against her but that Charleston - well I thought she was great - I just find her a bit grating when she speaks / shouts . I do think Rose can dance also. I think it has got to the point where I don't really mind. I know Dan isn't the best dancer but I quite like him - of the rest I think on their best day they could each one of them pull it out of the bag.

ElftonWednesday · 16/11/2021 05:06

The programme is so much better without Brendan Cole and the Jordans. I couldn't stand them.

Claymorekick · 16/11/2021 07:07

So if they don't get a guest judge in (and by that I mean one who gives realistic scores rather than Donny/Alfonso type Grin), then the leaderboard is going to be hideous with everyone on some combination of 8/9/10 and probably some ties which could really mess things up Confused

Craig is the only judge I listen to Sad

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/11/2021 07:27

I think Anton may well be the voice of reason with Craig away. He's been pretty good and actually given constructive criticism much of the time.

covetingthepreciousthings · 16/11/2021 07:32

Surely with it being musicals week they'll rope in a celeb to be a stand in judge? I'd actually be happy for them to give the job for this week to another pro dancer and see what critiques they come up with.

Redcrayons · 16/11/2021 08:29

No Craig this week. I wonder if they’ll try and video call him like they did with Bruno last year.

IntermittentParps · 16/11/2021 08:39

So do I Grin He's so DULL. Pity because I'm very fond of Amy, especially after Danny John Jules had his strop and she had to do their exit interview on ITT on her own.

Bluffinwithmymuffin
I liked Jamie's QS too. He gave it such humour and character.

I think James Jordan is an arsehole. Brendan was a bit cocky and loved being the 'bad boy' of the show a bit too much. I don't miss either. But I'd be sad if Aljaz left. He's sweet and kind and a proper gent IMO.

Platax · 16/11/2021 09:06

How do you know it's not her personal views? Whose views are they going to be? If it's predictable then there is a reason for that.

The point is that they're supposed to judge based on what they actually see, not what they predict they're going to see. The others are prepared to do that, I've never seen any evidence that Motsi does.
OverByYer · 16/11/2021 10:12

Maybe they’ll get Kevin Clifton or Jeanette to judge?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 16/11/2021 10:13

I've just looked back since she joined.

In Series 17, there were only two occasions where the first three judges weren't unanimous. In one case, Motsi agreed with Bruno, once with Craig. Shirley saved the person Motsi hadn't voted for both times.

Last year there were only three judges (and she missed two weeks), so it was a bit different, but in the last three weeks she voted the other way to Craig each time. Shirley agreed with her once, and agreed with Craig twice (so she was the Lone Dissenter twice).

Craig hasn't been the dissenting vote yet this series either — Anton and Shirley each have twice.

You've seen no evidence that she doesn't.

This is bonkers 😂
