Anyone watching Dope Sick (Disney+)

I’m gripped and then discovered there’s only 2 episodes uploaded so far. Am I expected to watch one a week like it’s 1993?!

It’s fascinating and horrifying. I’d heard references over the years to “America’s opioid crisis” and wondered why we didn’t have it here. Well, here are the answers.

Yes, I'm watching it, 'The Pharmacist' on Netflix is another series about oxycontin and worth watching, The Crime of the Century, a 2 part hbo documentary on sky is good as well. It just seems unbelievable how they got away with it and how all the systems in place failed.

Just started this, I used £6 of Tesco Clubcard points to get 3 months subscription so I could watch it, £6 offer ends tomorrow, then it goes back to £8

I'm watching episode 2 right now - seems great so far. Completely shocking that they got away with the fake claims to get the FDA label and the ad was so misleading.

Yes! I watched the first two episodes yesterday. Fascinating stuff, really well done.

Can't wait to see the rest, is it really going to be a weekly drop for the rest??

I've seen loads of complaints about that so it wouldn't surprise me if they drop them sooner (or even a couple per week) as it's already been shown in the US in full.

You didn't watch Dopesick years ago. It only finished filming earlier this year.

OP, I think I'm going to try and wait for a couple more episodes to be added before I start watching. We'll see if I manage!

I've just watched episode 7 (released on HULU in the US 5 days ago), which I think is the last one. Seems like a few loose ends though?

Just read episode 8 is released on November 17th in the US. hopefully they will release all the remaining 6 on Disney once that's done. Its a compelling watch.

Watched the first episode last night. I was close to shouting ‘nooooooo!’ at the screen when Dr Fennix gave out the first prescription to that poor miner girl Sad

I will watch it all but I don’t mind having to wait tbh - I don’t think I could binge watch this. It’s just so sad.

Was confused by the drugs raid so maybe someone could explain - why were all the women working there only in their underwear?!

@Spudlet I wondered the same, dh thinks it’s so that they don’t get drugs on their clothes so they are less likely to be caught.

I’m also frustrated with the 1 per week release, I don’t have a patience any more Grin

I’ll look at the recommendations upthread of other programmes about the issue, thank you.

I can’t believe what they got away with, like doubling the dose to sell more and telling pharmacists they’d be sued if they stopped dispensing it, it’s just awful.

If you watch the pharmacist it was also pharnacy owners putting pressure on pharmacists not to refuse prescriptions because of the profit they were making from them

Any idea why I can't locate it?

I searched for it with the search function but also looked in "recently added"...

Have you looked in the ‘Star’ section? Do you have child friendly settings on accidentally? Dd2 can only see children’s programmes in her profile.
