@GreenLunchBox Oti's full name is Otlile - which is pronounced “Ott-lee-lay” - so if it is shortened to Oti then it should really be pronounced "Ott-ee" not "Oh-tea" as everyone else says it. I assume that so many people pronounced it incorrectly when she first joined SCD that it was easier to just go with the "Oh-tea" pronunciation

So, Anton is actually the only one pronouncing it correctly.

From what i know about South Africa & and southern African countries I Ott-ee makes more sense. But because every said oat-tea I assumed that's how her name was pronounced

Just finished watching and reading comments.

Tonight was better than I thought as I'm not a fan of Rumba's or VW's.

Liked all of the dances, best ones were Rose, AJ (undermarked), Tom and Tilly.

The Rumba's weren't that bad in the end! I like that they didn't got all out sexy as it would have just been weird.

WTF was Adam's Samba about....and the gyrating and those jeans 😳 holy fuck. I bet quite a few grannies choked on their sherry tonight. I just sat there through it open jawed just going "but those jeans are so tight" with my OH eyeballing me.

Agree that the marking is a bit off. Yet again I'm pissed off with Craig being a snipey old hag and really undermarking some people. I can deal with the overmarking, but he is clearly tactically undermarking and he needs a massive kick up his arse. At least the others are fairly consistent with their overmarking. I was warming to Craig a bit more, but I've gone off him again in the last couple of weeks and I think Anton is the best judge.

I would like Rose or AJ to win at this stage and hope Sara stays in for next week.

I’m shocked AJ wasn’t top of the leaderboard. She was, by far, the best in my humble opinion.

But Motsi pronounces Oti's name as oh-tea and she's her sister so you'd think if anyone was right it would be Motsi 🤷🏻‍♀️

What you say makes sense, but I googled it before you posted that and found two news articles: one from 2020 and one from two hours ago with people fuming about how Anton pronounced her name.

It seems a bit weird that Anton goes out of his way to pronounce her name like that. He knows that everyone else pronounces it differently. He doesn't strike me as the type to stand up and make a point for racial equality.

I found an article from 2015 when she first joined Strictly where she explained that nobody could pronounce Otlile "Ott-lee-lay" so the two options were Oti or Lily and since she wasn't a "flowery girl" she went with Oti, but clearly people read it as Oh-tea rather than Ott-ee and she has just run with it:

The South African-born dancer who has lived in Germany for the past three years decided to change her name from Otlile to Oti for Strictly as soon as she landed at Heathrow airport.

“No one could pronounce Otlile so I thought about changing it to Lily, but I am not really a flower kind of a girl,” says the feisty dancer

If you watch about the first three episodes that Oti was ever in on Strictly, she pronounces her name Otty, and that was how the announcer and Tess etc. also said it. Everyone kept calling her Oh-tea so she must have decided to go with it and that is her brand now. Anton is the only one who bothers to say her name correctly.

Kai and his GF broke up last year! In the interview he gave in August he said he had been single for ten months. He moved in with Gio just before Christmas and Giulia went back to Italy to open up a dance school.

Oi, AJ (and everyone else)! Back of the queue for Kai/Bert! When everyone else was joking about him being 60 and having Ross Geller teeth, I was carrying the flame. I saw him first. (In 1952, when he was a mere whippersnapper.) Gerroff!

I’m another one who doesn’t get the ‘Tom hate’ - I think he seems really nice.

I liked Dan’s dance and I loved the things he was saying about his wife. He comes across as a really genuine guy.

I thought Sara looked really pretty tonight, as did Tilly. I really enjoyed Tilly and Nikita’s dance.

I don’t fancy Adam at all - but at the start of his routine, when he was standing at the top of the stairs with his back to the cameras, I did have a few naughty thoughts.

I loved John and Johannes but I agree that John is just too muscly to carry some outfits off, and tonight was a prime example. But talking of muscles, I saw the ones in Johannes’s arms for the first time tonight (during the VT) and I did think they looked good!!

AJ and Kai - I don’t know how she performed as I couldn’t take my eyes of Kai, there’s something so sexy and mysterious about him when he dances that I’m just mesmerised.

And as for Gio…..good God he looked hot tonight. I mean, he’s sexy as hell anyway but that waistcoat made my heart race even faster. I’m a happily married woman but blimey, what I would give to be locked in a room with Gio for an hour

I was really disappointed with Oti and Ugo tonight - he seemed to be doing nothing whilst she danced around him. I fully expect to see them in the dance off tomorrow.

So yes, I really enjoyed tonight’s show and I’m going to go and re-watch Kai’s dance so I can perve on him, and then I’m going to do the same with Gio’s dance
