@SmellyOldOwls
Yep *@holidaynearlyover* I'm surprised how many people think deaf means you can't hear anything at all. You forget it's something that a lot of people don't know much about.
Ironically it's people with the most profound level of hearing loss who genuinely couldn't hear a train beside them who end up with the best hearing levels if they get CIs when they're babies, like my son.
@SmellyOldOwls glad the CI works well for your son.
I have constant battles at work trying to explain the difference between hearing loss, that shoving someone in a class to sign won't help all deaf children as they need to be able to use it and understand the language themselves!!
On the flip side I also get, well they turned when I talked, to mean they can understand every single word being said and teachers not understanding that language levels can be low depending upon when the child was aided, if they have CIs etc. Also not understating they are hearing parts of words and not necessarily hole words (due to frequency loss and hearing aids). You are so right about profoundly deaf CI wearers.
I hope if Rose continues in the competition that a lot of these issues can be addressed!
