It will though won't it? Somebody out there is buying crap pop. Gibberish, where's your dd?

gibberish · 15/12/2007 22:45

diva I don't think I will EVER recover

Ok am Scottish born and bred.

But I CHOSE to live in Wales for 4 whole years so Rhydian is my PASSION.

Scotia · 15/12/2007 22:46

Expat, I think Rhydian made a better job of that song without Katherine Jenkins though. He is fantastic, I don't honestly think this kind of competition is right for him. I read that he got knocked back from the 'Joseph' show - I bet Andrew Lloyd Webber is kicking himself now.

I agree Leon is not the singer Rhydian is, but congratulations to him anyway. I believe he will get better when his confidence grows a bit - he does have a good voice imo. Look at Leona last year, no personality until she opened her mouth to sing. I didn't personally like her voice, but she was the deserving winner.

gibberish · 15/12/2007 22:46

dd has made a mad dash for bed.

Very, very wise. Since I am near to the kitchen where the meat cleaver is.....

merrylissiemas · 15/12/2007 22:47

come home gibberish (ok, im shropshire, not wales-but its pretty close)

OP posts:
gibberish · 15/12/2007 22:48

Hey I lived in Shropshire too

merrylissiemas · 15/12/2007 22:49

really?
where? im telford!

OP posts:
lazawreath · 15/12/2007 22:50

LOL, gibberish.

agree that rhydian didnt need katherine jenkins. Her voice is 'orrible. Warbling bloody woman.

allIWannaBeForChristmas · 15/12/2007 22:50

but at least leona could sing. what can leon sing? swing, big band and... that's about it.

IMO this single won't go to number 1.

and leon will disappear back into obscurity.

the fact that Rhydian didn't get into joseph doesn't necessarily mean anything, as sometimes even the good singers are knocked back by the producers to allow some of the crap ones to audition for the judges. not everyone that auditions actually auditions in front of the judges - there are actually two auditions, one for the producers, and if you're lucky you get to go in front of the judges, so it's entirely possible he never even saw sir Andrew.

gibberish · 15/12/2007 22:50

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

That's where I escaped from lived too!

nutcracker · 15/12/2007 22:51

As someone else said Rhydian will do brilliantly out of xfactor anyway so I am glad Leon won.

merrylissiemas · 15/12/2007 22:52

pmsl where in telford?

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 15/12/2007 22:52

I agree, Scotia. Rhydian's future lies in other arenas.

He has the talent, the background as a trained musician who can actually read music and the passion.

To have held his own alongside a soprano like Jenkins at his age, however, says much.

gibberish · 15/12/2007 22:52

dd1 has just shouted down stairs in patronising voice 'Love you Mum' to which I replied 'At this moment I don't love you' to which she replied 'LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE YOU LEON'

I may be committing murder this evening. Not manslaughter. Murder, pure and simple.

expatinscotland · 15/12/2007 22:52

Aw, his tenor just brings tears to my eyes!

What a treat!

gibberish · 15/12/2007 22:53

One of the crappy estates. Which was actually ok when we lived there, but took a peek recently and it looks like Iraq on a bad day now!

Our friends live in Wellington.

merrylissiemas · 15/12/2007 22:54

We had only three tenors in our department, they're that few and far between. Really, really gifted tenors.

Oh, how they would sing!

My former boss, still a dear friend, is a modest soprano - yes, there is such a thing! - and they would coax her into singing with them.

The sounds from her room!

gibberish · 15/12/2007 22:57

lol you were prob our neighbours!

Wellington is lovely though. What I did like about Telford was that you were never that far from the countryside.

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 15/12/2007 22:57

Whatever happened to Steve? (I can't even remember his surname) Then first winner?

I predict the same career trajectory for Leon

expatinscotland · 15/12/2007 22:57

Steve's probably on some noravirus-infested cruise ship where he belongs.

lazawreath · 15/12/2007 22:58

steve brookstein! I've seen him selling the big issue

gibberish · 15/12/2007 22:58

Leona is so devoid of personality she will disappear from sight soon no doubt.

Isn't it strange that Leon has such a similar name? And a similar musical outcome no doubt?
