Free solo is good - about a climber and his obsession climbing a particular rock. Gives a good insight into how he thought
Was that on Red Bull to? I think I’ve seen that.

The Red Blue channel has some good stuff on it - I find myself fascinated by bizarre extreme sports,

Me and DH recently watched A Killing in Tiger Bay which was unbelievably shocking. A 3 parter on BBC iPlayer.

@Turmerictolly

Loved Three Identical Strangers. There is the Tiger King of course. If you like the Joy of Painting programme, there's a doc about Bob Ross's life. There's also a great doc about two 'savant' sisters in America with perfect memories- fascinating but I can't remember what it's called unfortunately.
The irony Wink

I accidentally saw Free Solo on tv. I was walking towards the TV with the remote control poised to switch channels and fifteen minutes later I realised I was still standing in the middle of the room holding the remote. It was mesmerising.

Also the Steve McQueen three parter on BBC about racism, and a house fire - Uprising

The kingdom of us - netflix
Swansea love story - youtube (this is quite old now and is about heroin use in Swansea, really worth a watch).
To Courtney with love - daily motion
Weed the people - netflix
Malcolm is a little unwell - prime

Topbird29 · 14/10/2021 16:21

Free solo is good- think I caught it on bbc last year. We watched it and just thought he was brave and stupid at the same time!

Yes, he seems quite oblivious to risk and to be quite a remote person — didn’t some lab or clinic do scans on him that concluded he had significantly different brain function in the amygdala to most people, so his fear responses and perception of risk are lessened? He was being shown disturbing photographs and his arousal centre was just saying ‘Whatever’.

@Firesidefox, Free Solo is great, but isn’t a calm watch! I was fascinated by how the camera crew (who had to all be experienced climbers because drones aren’t allowed in Yosemite, so the whole climb was filmed by climbers (roped) with cameras, without getting in Alex Honnold’s way) had to come to terms with the fact that they might end up filming someone they’d got to know well falling to his death a foot from them.

The R Kelly and Epstein ones are brilliant for all the wrong reasons.

PutYourBackIntoit · 14/10/2021 20:49

The OJ Simpson one is unreal

There's some great Storyvilles too. I particularly enjoyed one about an Israeli football team.
The most shocking one was the first one I watched about a young man with learning disabilities who was jailed in florida for a murder, just because he was in the area and looked vaguely similar to the description. I'll try and get the proper names of them.

MurielSpriggs · 14/10/2021 20:51

Thanks to all for the suggestions

PutYourBackIntoit · 14/10/2021 20:52

Storyville - Forever Pure (Isreali football team and racism)
Storyville - Murder on a Sunday

coodawoodashooda · 14/10/2021 20:54

The triplets one sounds amazing.

Blackpoolhotelier · 14/10/2021 20:55

I did exactly this! Well I was sitting but still pointing the remote at the TV ready to change it

Miniestelle · 14/10/2021 21:14

theres a brilliant on amazon prime called The Dissident I think. Its about the murder of Jamal Khashogi at the Saudi embassy in Turkey.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 14/10/2021 21:41

Grizzly Man

Holy Hell

AuntMasha · 14/10/2021 21:57

Oh I love documentaries so I'm placemarking here. I quite like Sky Documentaries they have some good ones. Crime of the Century about opioids in America, Look Aways, McMillions, The Jinx and loads more I can't think of the name of!
On Netflix, I just watched Britney v Spears, John of God, 13th, Bikram, Black Fish and for a bit of light relief Mucho Mucho Amore.
