Its overtaking Midsommers murders as a not safe place to live.

Optimist1 · 30/10/2021 16:14

He wants it back (not sure why he can’t give it) - when Alya fell victim to the telephone scam telling her to transfer the contents of the business account to them, Zeedan gave the £50k to her to get Speed Daal out of trouble.

Akire · 30/10/2021 16:27

But they lost £10k so didn’t need £50k plus the business would have got by maybe borrow £2k pay suppliers bills but then able to earn it back. The £10k can’t have all been debts they owed they must make a profit.

darklindor · 30/10/2021 16:47

Huge amounts of money get shifted about all the time in corrie, it usually never get mentioned again.

A bit like huge amounts of earth disappearing from the Platt's tiny garden overnight and nobody noticed any noise or goings on.......oooooh there's a big hole in the garden, how did that happen?

GrasssInPocket · 30/10/2021 16:50

Anyone else noticed how much "overhearing" went on this week? It's wearing a bit thin as a plot device! There was Daniel overhearing David and Sarah discussing the sink hole. Then we had Stu overhearing Asha and Nina talking about the bag. Finally, there was Ryan overhearing Zeedan and his father-in-law in the alleyway. Maybe I've missed other examples. They really aren't very discreet in Corrieland, are they? Hmm

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 30/10/2021 16:58

That alleyway sees a lot of dodgy action.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 30/10/2021 16:59

Eavesdropping in Corrie really gets on my wick. People manage to overhear a whispered conversation from across the street but never a conversation in the kitchen about two metres away.

Rhannion · 30/10/2021 17:02

Discretion never happens in soaps

hibye123 · 30/10/2021 17:05

@eddiemairswife

I don't understand how money laundering works, and I can't be bothered to find out.
😂 it's basically just putting dirty money into a legitimate business to make it clean.

So say you have 50K from drug business or something illegal and you put that 50K through a business by editing the transactions to make it look like the business really made the 50K.

You'd have no problem putting that into the businesses bank account and then transferring to your account as it's all legit. It's basically just covering your tracks because if there was any questions from the police, all receipts and transactions would show that the money came from the business. If there's no trace of the money, police would obviously know it's dodgy

Optimist1 · 30/10/2021 17:16

Ah, I didn't realise they actually specified how much money they'd been scammed out of. (It struck me as bizarre that he offered £50k without having been told but I put it down to shit scriptwriting )

Exactly. And they never hear the front door being opened when they're snogging on the sofa! Grin
ChildOfFriday · 30/10/2021 17:28

I thought it was £50k Alya was scammed out of?

@WomanStanleyWoman You should be ashamed of yourself for using that term in this day & age....

Akire · 30/10/2021 19:06

I also though as if Sam would ask for fruit shoot either. He be quoting you the sugar content!

Magicalwoodlands · 30/10/2021 19:21

To be fair to @WomanStanleyWoman I’m positive she wouldn’t have knowingly used an offensive term. I didn’t see what it was though.

Doesn't matter how it's meant with a term like that, it's how it perpetuates. I've been homeless myself. It cuts deep
PumpkinsandTea · 30/10/2021 19:33

Anyway, I agree re: the point OP was making. The writing lately has been atrocious

eddiemairswife · 30/10/2021 19:55

I didn't see the offensive comment, but I googled Um Bongo as I had never heard of it. I would have expected Sam to ask for tap water.

Magicalwoodlands · 30/10/2021 20:31

None of us know what the comment was but we do know @WomanStanleyWoman from Corrie threads and we know she’s not gratuitously offensive. So assume it’s a genuine error / not knowing.

You don't know anyone on here lol it's the Internet. Defending someone you don't know regarding a comment you haven't even seen just because you come on here to discuss Corrie with them is so strange😂

Does Um Bongo even still exist? My teens have never heard of it.
Magicalwoodlands · 30/10/2021 20:59

Not really. I’ve been on the Corrie threads a while under various names. I’ve never known WomanStanleyWoman be an arse and more to the point I don’t really want the toxic shittiness (embodied in the above comment) that is currently permeating through most of MN coming on here.

Hopefully it won’t.

At the moment it’s the only reason I’m still here and I can’t be arsed with a stupid argument over who said what. WomanStanleyWoman said something she shouldn’t have, MN removed it, she isn’t given to being offensive so assume lack of knowledge rather than inherent obnoxiousness.

hibye123 · 30/10/2021 21:02

Fair enough! I'm sure we all rather enjoy chattering on about Corrie
