@smallandimperfectlyformed

I stopped watching Corrie when Pat Phelan was murdering people left right and centre (nothing at all against the actor, think he's brilliant actually!) and now it's been so long I don't know half of the cast. Used to love the scenes with the older cast members. My mum tells me Mrs Tembe is nowhere near as good in Corrie as she was Doctors! I would quite like there to be a storyline with Al and Starbuck being more friendly - but not him suddenly falling in love with a man!!
Same re Corrie. Stopped watching after Pat Phelan. I’ve been watching on and off since I was a child.
EerilyDisembodied · 29/10/2021 17:45

Same with Corrie here too, can't remember exactly when I finally gave up, I think it was around yet another member of the Connor clan turning up with even more ludicrous storylines, probably about 5 years ago. Oh and Phelan getting together with Eileen. I had watched it on and off since childhood too, my first memory is Nick Tilsley's christening. I loved Emily, Norris, Alec Gilroy, Bet, Betty, Rita.

JustDanceAddict · 29/10/2021 18:29

Don’t forget Stan and Hilda and her ‘Muriel’

EerilyDisembodied · 29/10/2021 18:31

Oh yes and Jack and Vera ❤️

KilledByWitches · 29/10/2021 18:39

i gave them all up other than Doctors years ago. Bit too much doom and gloom for me.

Corrie was probably when Roy and Hayley were in it and Eastenders was around the time Tiffany was with Grant. I was never a fan of Emmerdale but I did watch it for a few weeks when the plane crashed because I was curious how they would handle it.

I watch Doctors -and despite being too old for it, I do watch Hollyoaks, though I'm not sure why Grin. More deaths than Midsomer in a tiny Chester village, where no-one ever dresses for the weather Grin. Of course, half of the cast of Hollyoaks have ended up in Doctors at some point .
I do love Holby though, which is full of daft plots- and am very sad it has been axed- though most of the best cast members have left. But I stopped watched Casualty about 15 years ago- and I used to love that.

I watch Eastenders sometimes, but haven't seen Corrie for about 20 years. The Daz dogs were advertising Emmerdale last time I watched it - I used to watch it properly when it was still Emmerdale Farm Grin.

Binglebong · 29/10/2021 19:26

I watched Holby when it first started and was about a cardiac ward. Then it became a general ward and currently deteriorated. I do remember one storyline where a op had to be cancelled as the patient was pregnant and it turned out her friend had repeatedly date raped her and she didn't know.

But other than that Doctors is as closed to soap as I go.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 29/10/2021 19:30

Wasn't Hobby in Holby when it first came out? I'm sure she was in an abusive marriage with Tony from dinnerladies. Or did I dream that?

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 29/10/2021 19:31

^^^
That should say Gobby

Raahh · 29/10/2021 19:35

Bingle I loved Holby most when Paul Bradley (Prof Elliot Hope) was on it. He was one of my favourites. And when 'Jesus' Robert Powell was on it Grin. They've had some good actors over the years.

At the moment they have Vineeta Rishi in it- who was Jas on Doctors (who Al go in trouble for stalking- although it wasn't him). And she did the phone sex line which was why we called her Jizz.

Raahh · 29/10/2021 19:36

MyCat she was - wasn't she Jeremy Edwards' mum?

Raahh · 29/10/2021 19:40

And yes! Her husband was Tony from Dinnerladies.

it's all coming back to me.

Holby was so good in the beginning. In the last few years, it's just had so many daft story lines. It has also suffered from 'Doctors writers' syndrome- where they completely mess with certain characters and ruin.

Yes gobby was in Holby, but not when I used to watch itSmile
TDogsInHats · 29/10/2021 19:42

Evening all. I've just caught up at last.
Rufus Hound as Starbuck/Keith was a nice touchGrin

TDogsInHats · 29/10/2021 19:44

I haven't watched current Corrie for years, but still watching classic Corrie. It's lovely seeing Roy and Hayley in the cafe.
My DD watches Hollyoaks Raahh and tells me that Sinead (from Corrie) is in it .
They like to do the rounds.

Raahh · 29/10/2021 19:52

TDogs Apparently she is- even though I never watched her in. I hate her character (she's a strange ant-vaxxer)- to the point I couldn't arm to her on Strictly and was glad when she went out .Grin.

EerilyDisembodied · 29/10/2021 21:13

I hated Sinead in Corrie to the extent I was glad she went out of Strictly too.

Never watched Hollyoaks. Gave up EE when I met DH as he can't bear it. Stuck with Emmerdale till about 15 years ago, randomly I watched it a few weeks ago and its still full of a lot of the same characters, I hardly recognise anyone in Corrie now though. Brookside I loved till Jacqui Dixon turned into a gangster Confused.

TDogsInHats · 29/10/2021 21:13

My DD can't stand her (Sinead character) either and was here one night when Strictly was on and didn't want to watch her.
Although I'm pretty sure my daughter doesn't watch Corrie, but I knew who she was. We must've seen clips on other programs.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 30/10/2021 21:05

It's about time someone from Doctors was on Strictly. Every other soap has had a crack at it.

EerilyDisembodied · 30/10/2021 23:39

Yes, Sarah Moyle would be my choice.

Raahh · 31/10/2021 09:56

Ah- now I do know that way back (in series 2 of SCD) someone from Doctors was on it- because I had this very thought a while ago Grin.
I did forget who is was though Blush so I had to check again- it was Sarah Manners, who played the first receptionist, Joanna, when the series first started. She went on to Casualty a couple of years later. She's not exactly 'famous' famous. Grin.

She was in Doctors for about a year I think.

She danced with Brendan on Strictly- the series that Jill Halfpenny won.

I did think, (at the time I looked it up) that with all the actors that have been on Doctors/crossovers with others soaps/gone on to bigger -that things considering how many contestants there have been on Strictly , there would be someone else. But no Grin.

I'd love Sarah Moyle to do it.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 31/10/2021 12:59

I'd definitely need eye bleach if Al did the rumba.

Raahh · 31/10/2021 14:33

I've just remembered Ali Bastian! Shiny blouse BeckyGrin. How did I forget she was on Strictly/Doctors?! She did really well on Strictly too, iirc.

Raahh · 31/10/2021 14:44

And it turns out I had totally forgotten that Davood Ghadami (who is now in Holby, but used to be Kush in Eastenders) , was even on Strictly- and it wasn't that long ago Grin. He went out with Jas in Doctors apparently- and now they are both in Holby.

Small world, soaps, isn't it? Grin.

ExcessivelyDisorganised · 01/11/2021 13:46

Cringe again
