POA means you have full access to do everything. I’m not sure Dot would have included double your money schemes in her wishes, you are supposed carrying out the persons wishes and affairs as needed.
Yes, my brother had POA for my mum before she died, though it was only briefly and only because at the time she lacked capacity....but it was just to ensure her bills were paid. Just because you can doesn't mean you should!

Actually speaking of which....why has Sonia got POA? MY brother had it because my mum had cancer which at the end caused tumours on her brain making her confused. Before that my mum had POA for my nan who had dementia. Is Dot ill? And i don't imagine Dot had much....wasnt her house a council house (though I acknowledge she may have bought it). But I can't imagine Mr Popalopodus paid her much and gave her a good pension scheme.

Dorothy Cotton inherited a big house from the late Dr Legg which was somewhere posh ( can't remember where it was now ?) it was worth a million pounds, was sold on and she got the lot!
How this Rocky has duped everyone is incredible though and I bet even Harry and Sandra Redknapp went ' what's going on ?' Last night !! 😂
I didn't expect Dotty to be involved , although it was obvious that Rocky was some kind of con man of some kind.

Facebook Eastenders pages has a long of reasons the whole Rocky / Tommy Cotton scam thing is pretty flawed! Still, again , we suspend our belief!!
Ronnie Mitchell ( who married a Branning for a few hours before she drowned ) had a baby with one of the Cotton's ( Charlie ) so the Mitchell's could get involved in this at some stage and will probably involve a car being blown up or a trip to the woods!
Dotty is her fathers daughter though!

You don't necessarily set up POA when someone is ill, you do it before so it is there in case it is needed. There might be a sudden stroke for example, an accident for a younger person... all easier to deal with if there is someone able to access their finances. There is also a health POA which allows you to make decisions regarding their care if they are incapacitated.

What Sonia is doing is a prime example of why people should think very carefully about who they allow to be their POA.

Charlie Cotton and Matthew (Ronnie Mitchell's son) are Dots direct relatives. She is supposedly living in Ireland with them. Why she would give POA to Sonia I don’t know.
Did Dot buy the council house they are all living in with the money from Dr Leggs house? Otherwise why hasn’t it gone back to the council?
Lasting POA should be set up before mental capacity is lost. But it doesn’t mean the attorney just gaily goes about doing stuff with the money. You are supposed to be carrying out their wishes

Wikipedia for Dr legg ( I know! ) said the house was in Finchley. I remember them all going 'Finchley ' in the voice reserved for ' that house will be worth a lot of money ' , which it was !
I feel bad that Sonia is about to lose it all to someone with the con man name of ' Rocky Cant ' and I'm not a Sonia fan :(
It's sad , especially given Dr legg loved Dot and he was nursed by her at the end of his life!
( I know it's not real !!)

POA can be set from any time I’ve just organised it for myself. You can have from starting from now or only when lose capacity. Dot did buy house so will have on going bills council tax, insurance maintenance (even though nothing changed in house in 30y) means Sonia can ring up haggle a new insurance quote or change gas supplier etc or poor Dot would have try sort remotely which is harder as you get older. I don’t know why she is convinced that she’s getting the money in end anyway, given Dotty is blood granddaughter then has how many of her husbands children, grandchildren and great grandkids. Robby and Bianca would have something say if Sonia got the lot!

Great twist with Rocky, but surely Sonia would have checked in with her mum who would have been able to verify whether he was really her dad HmmI think her mum Carol Jackson was last seen riding off into the sunset on a motorbike after a cancer diagnosis but presumably Sonia would still be in touch by text at least?

Rocky cares for Sonia. Like Dotty said, it's as if he's forgotten she isn't his daughter. Why would he punch Ethan and key his car otherwise? I think that's where the scam will all fall down.

So apparently (from Wiki) Tommy Cotton is the son of Charlie cotton and Rose Cotton (dots half-sister who Charlie married bigamously) AND the brother of Andrew Cotton who was of course the fiancé of Heather (Ev) Trott and now lives in a far-away land with Ev's son George! So that makes him Nick Cottons half-brother (I think) and Dotty's (half?)-uncle Confused

I'd forgotten about Heather's George, he must be a young teen by now? Maybe he'll show up and before long to have revenge on Ben for killing off the the very decent Heather. we will have a whole reel of cottons!

I thought the father of heathers baby was Darren. The one who was with Libby. There was a scene where they got together in a toilet. Very romantic!
