This is on Channel 4 tonight at 9 (and steaming on All 4 now). Set in a care home last year with Jodie Comer and Stephen Graham.

Just watched it, it's an excellent drama. Jodie is incredible.

I just watched this and it was brilliantly done.... right up until that last half hour.

It really hit home, and brought back memories for me working in the NHS when it all started (Rehab). I found it quite upsetting, but that's because they nailed exactly what it was like.

However, it upsets me that it totally lost the plot at the end. I won't spoiler, but it should have ended earlier and maybe involved relatives slightly more.

Yeah, it was a bit weird towards the end.

Is it a film or a series? I thought it was a film but they've been advertising it on C4 as a series.

Aquarius1234 · 16/09/2021 21:11

2 hour drama tv film. Gonna be a long night.

grafittiartist · 16/09/2021 21:21

Great cast !

Delatron · 16/09/2021 21:37

Ooh I thought it was a series! Not sure I have a film in me. Might record and finish tomorrow. It’s fantastic so far though.

JumpLeadsForTwo · 16/09/2021 21:38

Only 1/2 hr in and a bit like one of those horror movies where you know what's coming - quite uncomfortable viewing thinking bank to how it was and the initial fear when working in the NHS

sleepyhoglet · 16/09/2021 21:38

Is it based on anything real?

Jellykat · 16/09/2021 21:57

Watching now... Brilliant cast! bloody tough watch but it was so manys reality in 2020 (apologies for stating the obvious)..

Great to hear Jodies real life accent, makes you realize what a fantastic actor she is with her others!

User135644 · 16/09/2021 22:05

@sleepyhoglet

Is it based on anything real?
The writer consulted with a real care home and a lot of the general stuff in it was widely known from the time (the lack of PPE, sick patients sent back etc).

Fuck, this is getting to me bigtime..

catfunk · 16/09/2021 22:13

This is such a difficult watch. Brilliantly done but awful to see.

vodkaredbullgirl · 16/09/2021 22:15

It makes me think, that we were so dam lucky that the care home I work in never had to suffer at the beginning.

Honeyroar · 16/09/2021 22:26

It’s really well done. So emotional watching it.

I'm watching it now. It's been done very accurately. Sat watching it with my daughter who is a care assistant in a care home, she says pretty much everything we are watching happened at one time or another in the first 9 months of the pandemic at the home she works in
Justmuddlingalong · 16/09/2021 22:28

I've recorded it to watch tomorrow when I've got peace. Sounds like it's really worth watching then?

Delatron · 16/09/2021 22:29

It’s upsetting but so well done.

JacquelineCarlyle · 16/09/2021 22:29

Same here @Justmuddlingalong - will check into the thread again tomorrow.

astrowars · 16/09/2021 22:29

It's brutal. Hope Boris is watching

Ginmakesitallok · 16/09/2021 22:32

At about that time during the pandemic I was delivering emergency ppe supplies from nhs stock to our care homes. They did the most wonderful job and were so undervalued. I was so humbled by their gratitude for masks and aprons. I don't think many folk understand the hell some care homes went through. And then they were blamed when care home residents died.

Jellykat · 16/09/2021 22:35

As if he'd give a monkeys astro..

nancyonthebike · 16/09/2021 22:39

People did this for minimum wage. They actually lived this and didn't even think about the money they were earning they truly did it because it was their job and they were human and they had to do what they had to do.
And they continue to do it.
And I hope they get the support they need when they come to a halt and it hits them what they went through.

viques · 16/09/2021 22:59

What a shame the shark jumped. This drama was timely and moving - then it wasn’t.
Sad

Travelledtheworld · 16/09/2021 23:03

just watched this. Excellent in every respect.
But did just Google L54 to see if it was a genuine postcode and it isn't.

OllyBJolly · 16/09/2021 23:05

Brutal as @astrowars says - but very very real. Upsetting watch.
