I’m just at the end of the second episode and not feeling it.

Does it get better? I’ve read a lot of positive reviews but most people seem to be hooked from the start.

Urgh I gave up halfway through episode 1. THAT intimate closeup

I'm dying to know if it gets better as I can't face finding out for myself!

AgnesNaismith · 21/08/2021 14:32

I was hooked straight away and still into it…at the same point as you though.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/08/2021 16:37

I'm on episode 6, really loved it. Didn't mind that close up, we see enough boobs as a matter of course on telly, makes a refreshing change.

TreaslakeandBack · 21/08/2021 16:41

Finished it last night. One scene I found really disgusting to watch.
Otherwise ok but weird!

OxanaVorontsova · 21/08/2021 16:41

Love it! Saving episode 6 for this evening

percheron67 · 21/08/2021 16:43

I was not sure at first but stuck with it and really enjoyed it. There are a few - Did you see that - moments but, because it is an off the wall drama they were not out of place.

Whadda · 22/08/2021 08:11

I finished it (home alone for a day, no car, torrential rain, nothing else to do). I just didn’t get it at all. The only character I half cared about was Lani.

Felt it was too long and too slow. Would have been so much more pacey if it was done over fewer episodes.

You're not supposed to care about any of them ,they were all vile.

Mooserp · 22/08/2021 08:15

I've watched several episodes (4 I think) and really enjoying it. I can see how it might be seen as a bit slow for other people though.

What was the close up in episode 1? I don't remember. There's one in a later episode that is 😮

Whadda · 22/08/2021 08:18

I mean “care” as in interested to see what happened to them. You can dislike a character but still have an interest in how everything turns out for them/hope they get their comeuppance etc.

I just didn’t find any of the character engaging enough to care about what happened to them- good or bad.

I'm on episode 2 - not sure if I'm enjoying it or not. Was googling the actors as thought the daughter looked familiar and found that she was Eden in The Handmaids Tale.

It really does have a great cast (& I love Connie Britton in particular) so I'll stick with it.

The swollen ballsack I assume Grin
ByTheSea · 22/08/2021 11:42

Finished it last night. I liked it personally.

BenjiMcSchmenzie · 22/08/2021 12:31

I've now managed to watch to the end of episode 2 ... still not feeling it, but DH likes it so I'll watch it and see if I can get more into it!

Yes, the ballsack ..wasn't expecting that.

I do think the hotel manager is hilarious.

Azilliondegrees · 22/08/2021 12:40

I thought it was really good. I love how the hotel manager becomes more and more Basil Fawlty (but an X rated version) as the episodes go on. And there was something about watching some rich spoilt white douches enjoying a lavish holiday at the expense of other less privileged people that was really quite insightful. The characters were totally hateful but with characteristics that can probably be found in many of us to a greater or lesser degree.

OxanaVorontsova · 22/08/2021 14:58

Finished it last night, thought it was a well observed critique of the disparity between the locals, the workers and the guests - and the utter lack of empathy/self awareness of the latter.

JacquelineCarlyle · 22/08/2021 16:41

I've just spent all afternoon watching it Blush

I actually really enjoyed it in the end, although wasn't what I was expecting at all. Really makes you think!

starray · 22/08/2021 16:49

Loved it!

Priddypuddycat · 22/08/2021 17:15

Can someone explain the ending to me I’m confused!

Mooserp · 23/08/2021 15:13

Please don't explain on here! Not meant to be any spoilers

seasonalremarks · 29/08/2021 12:07

Just starting episode 6. I think it's the best thing I've seen since Succession.

I had a really shocking moment last night. My DD16 came to ask me something and the ballsack closeup appeared on screen. I was mortified!! I think my DD thought I was watching porn and she left swiftly.

Sonarl · 30/08/2021 01:24

Was that a fake cock and balls do we think?

MissM2912 · 30/08/2021 01:27

I really enjoyed it! So witty and spot on in highlighting the inequalities.
Love Succession too.

AgnesNaismith · 31/08/2021 20:14

I loved it - where succession made me depressed and I hated pretty much the whole cast, this was quite the opposite. I feel like I’ve been on a very interesting holiday.

AgnesNaismith · 31/08/2021 20:14

*characters rather than cast, nothing against the actual actors themselves, they are outstanding!
