The programme that apparently is why NW won’t be in unforgotten s5

Looks good I do like e detective /thriller/murder series 😄

Annika, written by Perrier nominated writer Nick Walker, is based on the hugely successful Radio 4 drama and follows the sharp, witty and enigmatic DI Annika Strandhed (Nicola Walker), as she heads up a new specialist Marine Homicide Unit (MHU).

This specialist unit is tasked with investigating the unexplained, sometimes brutal, and seemingly unfathomable murders that wash up in the waterways of Scotland.

Throughout the series, Annika makes the audience her confidante by breaking the fourth wall and sharing her wry observations on the case and her life, as she manages her brilliant yet unconventional team, and her equally brilliant yet complex teenage daughter.

Intuitive and instinctive, Annika has a weakness for using literary and historical references to help solve crimes, an enthusiasm that her team definitely doesn't share, but which is often the thing that unlocks the puzzle.

The team's cases take them from the depths of Glasgow's Clyde River to the Isle of Bute and picturesque Loch Katrine as they solve a new crime each episode, juxtaposing Scotland's stunning landscapes and urban beauty against the horrific realities of the murders her team must solve.

This looks so good!! Can you get Alibi if you have Now box/Amazon? I feel like we have every steaming service but can't find what I want to watch

Xmasbaby11 · 18/08/2021 23:20

So want to watch this. unfortunately we're on holiday and crappy TV does not have Alibi channel! We had to watch Masterchef instead.

Skybluepinkgiraffe · 19/08/2021 20:03

Just watched it. I do love NW! I thought it was quite comedic and it's good to see her smile

mum2jakie · 19/08/2021 20:04

Omg - Nicola Walker smiling in a TV series. That's a first!

Mine was called something like "If you liked Unforgotten". Not to self, mention the new programme's name if you start a thread, d'oh!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/08/2021 17:12

Yes a tv prog name helps 😂😂

Love Nicola Walker and was so looking forward to this. I will keep watching, but the storyline in the first one was not gripping. It was a bit like a Scottish version of Death In Paradise.

cheapskatemum · 21/08/2021 23:31

😂 Scottish Death in Paradise just about sums up episode 1! I liked the grumpy diver who wanted Annika's job though. Also love her stroppy daughter. I laughed out loud at her line in the play.

Mrsjayy · 22/08/2021 11:43

Hi just want to check in for next episode some of the continuity was a bit iffy boated the Dd to school but drove home Hmm but all In it was great. I recognised some of the locations and the jetty the walked up I was there 2 weeks ago it leads to a designer outlet SmileI love NW did anybody watch her in River a few years back with Stellan Skarsgaurd?

Thortful · 22/08/2021 11:51

@Mrsjayy yes some of it didn't make a lot of sense, so I'm hoping things will start to add up as it goes along.
I also love NW, she's my girl crush Blush
I love the bit where she set off the fire alarm. Though far from taking the attention away from the daughter, I imagine in real life it would have added to it with the daughter being blamed.
I enjoyed the humour (not sure if it's intentionally funny or not yet)

Mrsjayy · 22/08/2021 12:03

We are just going to go with it and not nitpick and just enjoy it .

Thortful · 22/08/2021 12:12

Same here! Who else laughed out loud when NW looked at Blaire's misspelled coffee cup and said 'Blah?' all Confused Blaire was Cho Chang in Harry Potter. Pleased to see she's done well Smile
mistermagpie · 23/08/2021 22:35

Just watched this and I'm not sure...

I live in Scotland and the weirdness of the location stuff irritates me. They spoke of a 'city' (think it was 'I've lived in this city my whole life' or something) and there was that big glass office, but then some of it was filmed in Largs - which for the uninitiated is very much not a city. The big sweeping road scenes seemed to be somewhere else entirely as well, and then in one scene there appeared to be snow when there was none elsewhere. It was really jarring.

Their office was weird too, I work with the police and the set up wasn't like anything I've seen or like anything you even usually see on tv.

Other than that it was ok and I will continue with it, but it was a weird programme all round.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/08/2021 16:08

I loved the Smoke alarm bashing. To give them all something else to talk about
